xPats4Lifex You're not alone. We can see that there can be an added, deeper customization, but then it locks it behind one mode. It’s frustrating when features like tattoos or gear options show up in Superstar but can’t be used for created players or in Franchise mode, where people spend hundreds of hours. CFM is a huge mode that should get more attention.
Out of curiosity:
- What updates would you want most for created players or draft classes?
- Are there specific customization features (like facial sliders, hairstyles, gear presets) you wish they’d expand?
- And do you think realism for CPU-generated draft players matters more, or would you rather have more freedom to build wild, unique prospects?
The tools are clearly there, and they should be used by the whole Madden community.
thanks for the reply, its very frustrating making posts like this for 5-6 years and nothing changes. to answer your questions...
-the updates i would want and probably the rest of the community is for these awful generic faces in madden to get a much needed refresh. they have been used for what seems like a decade, they are severely outdated, dont fit in helmets properly etc. I would love a face builder for all modes not just superstar like every other sports game has but as an easier solution, CFB has great new generic faces. thousands of more options, they look how next gen should look. this would add more authenticity to draft classes, franchise etc because after 5-6 season in franchise all the players look the same.
-for equipment i think its pretty simple, there are tons of missing equipment options that have been seen in the NFL for years. Q-collars, multiple sleeves, sleeves/tape, custom thigh pads, colored visors, ski masks, turtlenecks, knee braces, etc. it would be also fun and authentic to have a cold weather geat category to customize what players wear in cold weather. removing cold sleeve temp was awful, now we have players in short sleeves woth handwarmers in heavy snow. the one i would really love to see is tattoos, its pretty sweet having them in superstar but it is pretty odd being the only player with tattoos minus the couple that have their real tattoos. Even if all NFL players cant get their tattoos (which still confuses me given NBA2k has them on real players) it'd be nice to add them to ALL created players with many more tattoo options.
-as much as i think realism matters everyone being able to create what they want from their franchise or madden experience is the most important. whether its wild prospects or realistic ones having the freedom to make whatever one might want is what is important.

I respect you for sticking with it and still pushing for change after all these years. That kind of persistence eventually moves the needle, even if it shouldn’t have taken this long.
You’re spot on about the generic faces. It kills immersion when every draft class starts blending together after a few seasons. A proper face builder would be nice. Something with sliders, presets, or even just a much larger pool like CFB would go a long way. Players love building out characters in games. We do it all the time, and some spend hours doing it.
The equipment list you dropped is exactly what the game needs. All those small details—Q-collars, cold-weather gear, custom thigh pads—make players feel like actual individuals instead of carbon copies. We don't want to be another brick in the wall. And the cold sleeve removal was baffling. Seeing guys in snowstorms with bare arms and a handwarmer is just ridiculous. I actually called this out in Skyrum after building a house. The Carriage driver was sleeveless in the Snow area. I mean, kudos for that, but still.
Tattoos too—feels weird being the only inked-up player in Superstar. Even if we can’t scan every NFL guy’s tats, letting us fully customize them on created players (and across all modes) should be a no-brainer. I love putting ink on any character in a game. Even if I don't see it.
Agree with your last point too. Realism is great, but flexibility is everything. Let players build the league they want, whether it’s ultra-authentic or completely off the rails.

100%, it really sucks missing so much, even in CFB... the customization was pretty restrictive last year but this year is even worse, cant change positions on generated players (unless its the 1 week in dynasty to change positions) but u cant do that for every team, cant change #s, would like to see create a player in there too. building up players in CFB dynasty and transferring them into Madden like the good ole days would be AMAZING... personally im not a MUT players, I dont play online... I love playing dynasty/franchise... creating my own players and teams however I want and just having fun... when these things regress every year, dont improve, etc at what point do I just say hey buying these isnt worth it for me anymore because the things I like to play haven't changed or have gotten worse... Every year when I launch a new Madden and see the same generic faces it makes me want to delete it and never play it again honestly.... Even if we cant transfer from CFB to Madden at least having the same generic faces all around gives people the ability to build those players in Madden if we wanted to. I am not a huge basketball fan but the customization NBA2k has is superior and should be where Madden is at after being around for so many years.
I just got over my 10hr trial of Madden and at this point I just dont see myself buying it. The X community has been huge with customization and to really not see any changes or response is really defeating.

xPats4Lifex I hear you. It can be tough when the features that matter most to you, like customization, player creation, and the depth of Dynasty or Franchise, do not see the improvements you were hoping for. They are some of the most popular modes. A lot of players feel the same way about wanting more control over positions, numbers, and the ability to make their team feel unique. I read it almost daily. You are right that older games with importing from CFB into Madden made building a connected experience feel special, and I get why that is something you would want to see return. It's a comfort thing for gamers. It is an addition to something we all look forward to.
What you said about the 10-hour trial stands out because it relates to purchases. Let's put making an actual purchase aside. Since that was your first run with Madden this year, was there any part of the game that surprised you in a good way, even if customization fell short? Or did the lack of improvements in the areas you care about outweigh everything else right from the start? When you think about skipping the next game in the series, what changes would be the minimum needed for you to feel it was worth picking up again?
I know customization means different things to different players, so I would be interested to hear what the rest of the community thinks would make it feel worthwhile, too.
