Unrealistic generated player faces

First I want to preface this topic by stating that this is purely a want and not a need. The gameplay functionality is THE need and it needs to be EA’s #1 priority.
That being said, for sim games like Madden to be truly immersive there must be continuity with the imagery. The create a player and auto generated player faces ruin the immersion. Adding more of these faces hardly helps at all. Every year there are around 250 new players added to the league via the draft. In Franchise mode these players are all wearing the horrible fake faces so it only takes a couple of seasons to ruin the realism.
There have been times in the past where EA put real human headshots into the game. It was better than the horrible animated option we have today but it had its own flaws too. Thanks to the new AI tools available I believe the solution has arrived. EA can use AI to create truly authentic faces that are hardly distinguishable from a real human. Imagine if every new draft class had completely new faces. No more duplicate faces! No more terrible animated faces!
Anyway I know it’s not going to happen and at this point the only thing I really hold out hope for is that they fix the gameplay. But a man can dream can’t he?

I really really hope Madden 2027 shifts to using the EA college football head system and uses AI to generate them... You don't get all these weird tiny heads not fitting the body or league full of PS2 looking 40+ year old clones after a few drafts... Completely kills the game for me when the league is full of these awful looking players - far behind other modes and other eSport games (2k, the Show, EA NHL...).

I actually talked about this with a few friends about a week ago (we are all in our 30’s) we talked about how we are in the ”patch era” now, where companies can just churn out and rush games even though they are not finished, properly tested and still riddled with bugs. They can just ”patch those bugs” as they go along over the games life cycle! No big dea!

Back in the day when you had a physical disc and there were no patches and updates, you got what you got at launch! If a company released a game full of bugs that was unfortunate cause they were there now, nothing to do about it. So, it feels like companies are much more relaxed with testing now since they know that they can just fix issues and bugs in post with patches.

Completely agree with all of this as well! Speaking of samoan hair, one thing that I’ve thought about also when it comes to the drafts and the generated prospects is the complete lack of players with samoan or hawaiian names.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. Aside from a sorely needed update for the heads to remove all the 50 year olds. They should at least have the option to select head size so more heads can fit more body types. Just do you don’t have to swap a lot of heads for rookies cause they either have a tiny head on a huge body or the opposite so little guys look like bobble heads.

Usually this annoys me a lot but I got one guy in the draft that was just too funny that I had to keep him, immersion breaking as he is! He is easy to recreate, he’s 5’10, lean body type and head 184. I call him Pinocchio. He looks like a puppet with choker that some girls wear. He’s absolutely crap but I keep him around as my CB5 as a mascot!

About the body types, I agree completely about the body types. Huge step in the right direction but still a lot to be done! The ”lean” body type is a god send that I have been waiting for for YEARS! Shame however that EA thinks that someone with a WR, CB or even a non-bulky QB with that body type can’t possibly be over 180 lbs! In the future I would have loved for EA to have these body types but for each position group specifucally. Maybe you can group in certain positions together of course if their general body types are very similar, like WRs and CBs for example. I think this is needed since it’s been about 20 years or so since EA stopped with height and weight that were relative to eachother, where a if you made your guy taller who would get thinner/less bulky and vice versa. With how it works today they completely independant of eachother. This is an issue with players in the same position like QBs for example. If two guys are 225 lbs they are going to have the same build, it doesn’t matter that one of them is 5’10 and the other one is 6’6.

I don’t want to complain too much since we at least have the body types now and more of them which is a big step in the right direction, however… Not a fan of that ”thin” body type. They just look like average push guys who used to play ball a bit in high school 20 years ago and these days the most exerise they get is mowing the lawn every once in a while.

Like you I doubt this thread will get noticed but I’m actually ok with that. The game needs so much work that I really just hope they concentrate on fixing the gameplay first. The graphics are great. The ideas have been good. Unfortunately they spend too little time fixing gameplay before the launch. They need to prioritize and the top priority should always be the gameplay. Once that is dialed then build the rest of the game.
Many people want the tats and drip. I think AI could easily handle that too. The idea of a franchise mode store is interesting but if that’s the route they go then the retail price for the game needs to drop some. Bet if they switched to a Fortnite model it would be just as profitable. The ready player one idea of giving out the game for free where all the revenue is via in game purchasing is pretty brilliant.

I want to be able to have different hair styles too and be able to change the hair style for each face, why no fros coming out the back of the helmet or more types of braids, longer hair, samoan hair etc. it's so basic and boring.

I have a separate thread on Teambuilder glitches that haven't been addressed yet, so i bet this thread will go unnoticed. I really hope that EA being sold means Madden improves and listens in the future.

Also, we need tats. Just some basic types of tats that we can custom add to players. I don't even care if it's only 10-20 total tats that are repeatable, just to have the illusion of tats in-game on certain players would add to the realism.

Need shiestys added and the neck sleeves too like turtlenecks.

so many customization options that need to be added. I'd pay for more of them tbh. They're so concerned about charging money for MUT when they could also add a store situation to Franchise mode. I'd gladly pay an extra $20 to have all these features in-game.

I couldn’t agree more. Trying to fit the right head to the right body type is super annoying. Some of the faces are straight up horror shows.
Adding body type options was a step in the right direction but like you said, the weights are too limited within each body type. If EA expanded the weight ranges and also put the old editing tools for arms, chest, belly, and legs back we’d be all set for the body’s of created players.
However if the heads remain the same then it’s not much progress.

Completely agree with everything here! This has been an issue for MANY years and I agree that it ruins the realism. Not only are the faces limited but as you mentioned they are in many cases also really bad. 21 year old rookies with faces of 50 year old men etc. That and also that a lot of the heads are so different in sizes so only a few fit each player depending on position, like for example a D-lineman who gets a tiny head, with there only being a handful of heads who are the appropriate size for the body,

I came on today to ask for another thing that has been bothering me about the rookies that they finally fixed, or rather "kinda" and that is the body types for these generated rookies. 280-something lineman who look like they are 350 lbs. Most of all though, which has been bothering me for YEARS is that all generated rookies are so much bigger and bulkier than the already excisting QBs, they finallay added the "lean" body type which fits how the actual real QBs look (in general) but the downside with this fix and the body types is that they have restricted the weights too much for these body types. Like the "muscular" bodytype only goes up to 285 lbs before you have to switch to the "heavy" body type which looks like you get a 50 lbs jump straight away. But more so, the QBs that now finally have a correct body type in lean, that bodytype only lets you go up to 180 lbs when it really should let you at least get up to around the 220s at least for QBs who are a lot taller than like for example 5'9 RBs with that weight.

This has been a realism gripe for me too along with the faces.
