Demotion glitch

I tried to play a game of the new season and I lost and it demoted me for the season that just ended and I lost my champion rank. Why am I getting punished if the season already ended? I just wanted to get an early start to the new season, And I get demoted and lose my champion rank that I spent all weekend grinding. This is very upsetting
