40 seconds to The Conduit

I'm at the part where you have 40 seconds to reach the conduit, but no matter what I do, I can never reach it.

I only just get to the bottom of the slope (before the first geth machine, but I always ignore them) when my time runs out. I Googled it and it said it might be because of the lag, but I can't do anything more to help that as all my settings are at their lowest. The lag hasn't affected the game as much as it is now.

Is there any way to get past this? It's really frustrating, and I'd appreciate the help! I really want to finish this game.

    I'm ashamed to say it is below the minimum, but I've been able to play the game with no serious problems, so it's usually okay. 

    But I have figured out a way to get past this!

    I went to here, and activated the cheats, then at the top of the slope (before the cutscene is activated) I got out of the Mako and I used the Teleport cheat to get to the bottom, then I used the SpawnVehicle cheat to spawn the Mako again, got in, and drove over to The Conduit. The timer wasn't activated at all, and The Conduit still activated and sent me into the Citadel. 

    I usually prefer not to cheat in games but this was absolutely necessary. Now I can actually move forward in the game.

    This can indeed be a problem if you have poor performance. My advice would be to lower the settings and screen resolution as much as possible. Then, when driving towards the Conduit, zoom in with your main gun (shift key). That way, the game has less information to render and the framerate should be higher.

    I just tried that, and it didn't do anything. I still ran out of time just as I got off the downward slope.

    What hardware do you have? If you have this much trouble it must be well below minimum spec.

    This wasn't cheating, this was doing what Spectres do;  finding a way to get the job done!

    That's the Captain Kirk method. You don't believe in a no-win scenario.
