I'm not misreading anything. I know what the Mass Effect series is about and its not multiplayer... The fact that you have a list of friends that play ME3 multiplayer & Dragon Age mulitplayer means nothing. I know people that play rubbish games too... it doesn't mean that everyone likes to play rubbish games. I'm not saying the game shouldn't have a multiplayer mode. I'm saying that it has very little to do with the games popularity. It's not why the majority of people buy the game, its not why the franchise is so popular & it should not be a priority over fixing the single player game. When single player has been fixed you can moan all you want about multiplayer but until then I couldn't care less. It's bonus content, just be happy you have it in a story focused single player game to begin with.
The fact that you think it would be dead without mulitplayer shows how little you know about the previous 3 games. The replayablility in this game comes from its multiple options in dialog, multiple endings & multiple styles of play, not a half-arsed muliplayer horde mode we've see done better a thousand times before.
I was actually surprised with the MP. It was better than I expected (to be honest, I wasn't expecting much from it at all.... because its not a multiplayer focused game). When its working and not laggy as *, its a nice break from questing... but thats it. It's nothing new & not even a contender in the MP game market. I'm quite baffled why anyone would expect anything more than just a slightly improved version of ME3 multiplayer from it. Mass Effect isn't and never has been a multiplayer focused game. A "real gamer" as you put it, would be well aware of this fact and would go elsewhere for their multiplayer fix. Like the majority do...
I'm pretty sure the real issue with this game & many others at the moment is the whole pre-order culture anyway... Why finish making a game when you've already hit your targets on pre-orders alone...hmmmmm should we carry on working to finish the game or release it 80% finished and get the same money anyway??... I know what most people would do and these big game companies seem to be doing the same. Put up an embargo so nobody can review the game until the day it comes out & people won't have time to cancel their pre-orders... I understand they are all here for the money but this is getting pretty disgraceful.
I've learnt my lesson from this game at least. I won't be pre-ordering anything in future... i've had enough of paying full price to beta test games
