Anyone using the Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma Headset?

As the title question asks:  Is anyone using the Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma Headset with ME:A? and if you are, have you had any issues with it?

The reason i'm asking is because my current headset needs replacing and i can pick up this razer headset quite cheaply.

  • I have and use the Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma Headset and it works very well for the most part.

The audio quality is really good - but the only issue i have with the headset is the usb cord is not very long, not a huge issue but still something to be aware of...Other than that i have no issues recommending the headset...

thank you very much for your reply and feedback.  Luckily i'm ver close by to my pc, but i've also got a USB extender if i find the cord too short.

    cheers, i'll order a set tonight 🙂

  • I have had the Corsair Void RGB USB, Razer Kraken Chromas, ASTRO A50s, and now my newest pair is the recently released ASTRO A10.

In terms of quality, audio output and microphone alike, I can ONLY suggest a pair of ASTRO A10.  The A50 would be the only pair I could recommend besides the A10, but the A50 carries a HEAVY price tag.

The A10 offers the same quality all around, minus metal here and there and swappable plates on each ear, for a VERY surprising cost of $59.99 US.

This does NOT mean the quality of the materials is not just as great either.  They cut the price by removing wireless, removable microphone, using less metal all around, less accessories, and less premium packaging.  The feel and function is still premium minus the above features.

Some notable points about the A10, besides the amazing audio and microphone quality, is the flip-up mute function they left in, the durability (due to a metal plate inside the headband allowing you to twist or rage on them without harm), and the removable 3.5mm cord, which allows swapping for different length cords.

I highly recommend this over the Razer Kraken!

i've seen people commenting in posts about the software that comes with the razer?  does it conflict or cause issues with MEA?

i held off buying the razer as the price went back up the following day. doh.. but for now i'm just using my webcam mic for voice comms and my headset that had the broken mic on it as its got good 7.1 surround.

  • The software you're mentioning is called Razer Surround.  It is a virtual 5.1-7.1 Surround Sound emulator that produces surround sound for stereo headphones.

This is now easily done using Windows Sonic on Windows 10, at no cost to you.  Razer Surround does have issues in and of itself, that's not worth relying on when faced with a decision of good software emulation or good sound quality altogether and all around.
