Asked to redeem online code on PC despite having owned ME3 since release

Heyo. I just booted up ME3 after a hiatus from it and now EA want a redeem code for multiplayer. I've owned ME3 since its release 2012 and had no problem then. Is this new and connected to the Xbox/PS? Or have they shut down the servers. Not really a super big issue for me, since its the singleplayer I'm interested in.

I've bought the fairly recent DLC-pack. Anything to do with that as well?

Just curious if anyone has any answers.

    I had this problem a couple of years ago after buying some DLC. At the start of last year I contacted support - I tried when it first happened and no fix was provided - and it was solved. They deleted the game from my account, the standard edition I bought at launch, and replaced it with the N7 Collector's Edition. Note that this didn't delete any of my multiplayer progress, but it did remove all of my DLC. I then had to contact support again to get it restored, using information about their purchases that I acquired from my account's details on their website.
