Bug Report: Flickering Light/Blinking while on Calls with The Illusive Man (ME2)

I was suggested by EA Help on Twitter to post this here. I had already done a post but I'm redoing with more info.

When on talks with the Illusive Man, Shepard's (and whoever else is in the call) holograms is blinking A LOT. To the point is hurtful on the eyes and I have to stop watching the screen or I risk a headache as I have sensitivity issues with light.

So far I only had this problem with calls with The Illusive Man.

I have the game through Steam.

I tried to repair, I had in fact a file corrupted but even though that was fixed by repairing the game, the problem persists.

It was most notable after Jacob's Personal Mission when him, Shepard and Miranda are all on the call and they all kept blinking a lot. (you can check a video I took here: https://twitter.com/neBulaMor/status/1398737488101904386) but I had noticed this, though in smaller scale, with all other calls to the Illusive Man.

I'm playing on a i5 6600, 16GB DDR4, GTX 1060 6GB, Windows 10 (20H2 // 19042.985), 1080p.

Things I have done to try and fix with no result:

Verify and Repair the files through Steam

Turn off Vsync

Changing from Borderless Window to Full Screen

Update my GPU driver from Driver 461.09 to the most recent to date 466.47.

  • @WanniegI dont know if it is the same thing but in ME2 on my XBX i did the first chat with illusive man where he sends you to freedoms progress and honest to goodness i spotted blinking. Maybe the game was originally designed at a lower frame rate and the higher rates make it look weird? But the blinking was periodically reset by shephard vanishing then reappearing from the legs upwards until he had fully reappeared then blinked again :/

@GrimReaperTaken yes this of the legs (and other body parts) disappearing also happens but is less annoying because at least is slow. Some of the video calls Shepard disappear and reappears so fast that is really hard to watch.

The framerate is an interesting possibility though I did tested with both Vsync on and off, I feel if that was all, with it on (which is how I play) would avoid the problem? Maybe?
