Can't Scan Planets
Hello, I recently started playing Mass Effect single player again and ran into a problem.
I can't seem to scan any planets. I have played up to the point of getting the Primarch - with a few side quests. No planets are available for scan at this point. I'm playing on the 360 and the Y-button indicating scan does not appear. I have visited several solar systems to see if the issue was ubiquitous and it was. I have tried this with discs one and two, but the issue is the same.
I'd really like to fix this issue. I was planning on trying the new single player DLC, but I don't see much of a point if I can't finish the side quests and fully complete the game.
Any help is appreciated!

It sounds like you're trying to scan planets in a way similar to Mass Effect 2, but it works differently in 3. Instead of a mineral scanner, you have an area scan pulse that you activate from the map. If you happen to find something on a planet, you can then scan for that object specifically, but no planets are available for scanning until you get a ping from the map. If you get a scan ping out in open space, it's probably a shipwreck with fuel you can recover.
One last note: keep an red bar at the bottom-right corner of your screen carefully. Every time you scan, you risk alerting the Reapers.
