Everytime I use an ability, for around 2 seconds, I cannot fire my gun or switch guns. It doesn't matter if the ability is offensive or defensive, my character is stuck and I can't aim (zoom) or fire my gun (doesn't matter if it's a pistol or shotgun).

No, I can see that others are having this problem as well.

Update: the new update has NOT fixed this. I can't play the game until this is fixed, since I'm playing adept and it causes me to die because I can't shoot!
Same. Been ages since i played the original, but i don’t recall it having this same delay.
STILL no fix on this. Anyone know when the next patch will be coming? I paid $60 and I've barely touched this game because I just keep dying.
Has anyone else acknowledged this bug? Or troubleshooting or work arounds? I bought this game 2 months ago and have played maybe 2 hours of it because of the current state it is in.
Yeah this is a general problem i heave it as well. It should be fixed, lets hope we get the next patch soon.
Hi, new to ME series here, same problem, can't enjoy the game because of this stupid bug. Have you found any solution yet ?
Otherwise here are my observations:
1) if you fire your weapon once BEFORE using a power (be it biotic or tech), the probability of encountering this bug drops drastically;
2) move around AFTER using power, it seems to negate the effect sometimes;
however i think the 1) is the better work-around to go, it seems to work in 80+% of the time.
Other workarounds include:
3) using a power at far distance then close in after 2 seconds then fire;
4) using a power then change your weapon;
5) always save BEFORE AND AFTER a fight, when my weapon fails like this i just reload immediately because i was a sitting duck, can't shoot then squad-mates steal my kill i am always pissed when this happens and i just wanna shoot EA in the face.....
Of course when you're in a tight fight you really just NEED IT TO WORK properly
I managed to use strategy 1 to clear the game all the way to the final battle, but be aware, there's another major bug apparently caused by biotic power usage in the final battle, which freezes your game completely or causing a crash...
at this point i abandoned the game.
GO TO HELL EA.
