@Vandel4176 My understanding is that after the battle with Saren that the game creates a save. I understood that the save is a different type of save to the normal 'saves', so manually moving saves isn't the answer.
Can anyone comment on whether my recollection is right?
Perhaps running back through your Saren battle from your last ME1 save would create the upload save you are wanting?

I am having the exact same issue. My wife finished ME1 the other night (Received achievement for completion) but when she went to import her character to ME2 there was no save file.
She went back to ME1 and the resume put her back to the 2nd stage of the Saren fight. Played through it again and still same issue.
I suggested playing by opening a manual save before the fight. She went through that ....same issue.
For some reason the game completion save file doesn't seem to be generating.
I played through without any problems.
Going to see if it is possible to delete the auto save then reload from a manual save and try to get it to create fresh auto save just in case the original one was stuck.
I'm going to preface this by saying that I use a PC to play ME (I have a PS1, but haven't used it in decades).
On PC the end game save file for ME1 isn't saved in with the other save files and isn't labeled as an auto-save. Instead it's saved in a file simply called "Char"; I've included an image below where the end game save files are stored on PC.
