Play Bring down the sky (the dlc) and at the end, the NPC will offer you something, and you can choose any size, weight, or style of Colossus armor.
@PatT2 Great answer. I already have the Omni-tool and Kaidan won't, er, be needing any armor (cough)...
Having given everyone a Colossus, I've now picked up 3 more in random loot and shops.
I guess that's the whole point of randomness...
