All I can say now is be patient, play the game and let the story run its course. When you come across what I have described then know that it will be close. So far no issues for me completed it 3 times.

Sometimes time passing is completing main story missions, but it can also be unlocked by visiting planets for the first time, which can be partially tied to main missions
