Conscussive Weapon Feedback
I've noticed some issues with Concussion Weapons. Particularly the implementation. The simple fact of the matter is it's not consistent. Sometimes I'm wondering if there's a bug involved. I've gotten weak point kills and the explosion doesn't happen. But even if there isn't a bug, there's also the issue of client lag. I have a feeling that may also be an explanation for it not registering as a weak point kill.
Then there's an even bigger issue. Most weapons are simply not suited for concussion. It's very difficult to get weak point kills with shot guns, even at point blank range, because pellets hit multiple body parts at the same time. Automatic and burst fire weapons have so much spread and recoil that it's difficult to get get weak point kills. You can get a good number of hit ins, sure. But kills seem rare unless you are pretty much point blank. And let's be honest, these were introduced to help with Platinum and being point blank range and stopping dead in your tracks to take aim to get a weak point kill is rarely a desirable situation in Platinum for the majority of characters. Weak but accurate single fire weapons require so much firing that the recoil makes hitting weak points difficult. The only weapons that seem to have a working synergy with Concussion are very high damage single fire weapons, basically Sniper Rifles. And that's assuming the client lag doesn't throw off the hit box registration. Not to mention, a lot of the weak points are not easy to hit. The only enemy I can think of where I can consistently get weak point kill shots and it is really useful is against Destroyers.
Then there's the issue that enemies generally don't group together. When I do manage to get an explosion to go off, most of the time it's useless because nothing else is around it.
I'm honestly not sure there is any good way to implement this sort of weapon. The only way I can see it being useful for all weapon types if any hit was capable of randomly setting of an explosion. The problem there, of course, would be that some weapons would be inherently better for it than other weapons, which is the exact problem we have now, unless the chance was manually controlled rather than a universal constant.
I rarely seem to see anyone using concussive weapons, favoring Bulwark and Siphon weapons far more often. I have to wonder if it's because of how inconsistent these weapons feel as opposed to the much more reliable and ultimately more useful effects of the other two weapon variants.
