Continuing in Andromeda (ME World Building and Story Continuation)

So I'm playing Mass Effect 1 for the first time as a 'prequel' experience of sorts before my third run to Andromeda. Mass Effect 2 has always been my fave and in playing ME1, it's fun to see how it all started and was setup.

Anyway, as I'm going through meeting everyone and seeing their respective stories, I got to thinking how each species would continue in Andromeda. Each culture and species had their own issues they were working on. Some particular to the Mily Way and now some that could take on a whole new direction with the new galaxy home. I know the game has its own cliffhangers in the aforementioned Quarian Ark, Benefactor, and Ryder Family Secrets, but I'm curious to see how other things will be handled as well.

The Quarians: How did they handle Alec Ryder's research regarding AI and how did they manage to avoid or deal with using it (if they did) with their Pathfinders? In a convo with Tali, she mentions how the Geth started to question their existence as they became aware and sentient. Kind of like SAM starting to ask questions about his existence and comparisons to human feeling and such. Would the Quarians wonder if there is a chance for SAM to be hacked or wish to become independent of Ryder in the future? Also, seeing as there is a whole new galaxy to explore for homes, will the flotillas be a thing of the past as they settle on a planet? There is the possibility of their suits not being needed anymore. I'm really interested in seeing their thoughts and reaction to the Remnant.

The Krogan: With the possibility of them overcoming the genophage and Dr. Okeer's research starting to get back on track, will the Krogran grow exponentially? They already have a war to fight with the Kett and according to Wrex, they are warriors who are interested more in fighting than research (although with Andromeda, they have both now). What happens if their numbers start to really grow? What if they justify the growth as a way to fight the Kett? A new alliance council in Andromeda could include members from each of the species all throughout Andromeda. Even the Krogran which would be very interested.  I'd love to see how a Krogan diplomat handles things.

The Drell: With arid planets such as Eos and Elaaden, they have a chance to thrive and repopulate their numbers independent of the Hanar. If they do take up in Elaaden, I'd be curious to see how they get along with the Krogan.

Ryder: if there is an MEA2, I hope they don't jump too far into the future unless it serves the story. I would like to continue to see Sara and Scott grow and mature into the leaders we saw a glimpse of at the end of MEA. Although they are still Pathfinders finding a home, even past that, they are Captains with the sibling not played having a chance to man their own ship in the same universe. I would love to see Ellen Ryder get a chance at being cured thanks to Angaran medicine. Though there are questions about the disease, there is still a whole host of flora and fauna that, according to SAM, is not in any database they have or recognize. Based on that one task where you get to scan the plants, this could lead to a great scientific discovery regarding Ellen's sickness and give Alec Ryder a huge posthumous victory in taking a chance on the trip. Based on how they work it, it could also help with the genophage situation. Plus, I also just want to see Sara introduce her mom to Jaal's mom and both families have an awesome family meal getting to know each other.

But I digress. ;-)

The Tempest: I would love to see this awesome ship upgraded! Now that we have a threat, we can put exploration to the side of fighting the Kett and Remnant. Add some awesome weapons to this beast! I would also like to see the two rooms in the back were Vetra and Liam hang out upgraded and possibly a ship chef like Mess Sergeant Rupert Gardner. He doesn't even have to be a traveling squadmate just someone who hangs around the Tempest and keeps things running.

The Nomad: Like the Tempest, now that we are in fighting mode, I would love to see this beast upgraded! Playing around with the Mako is pretty fun and I can see why fans really like this vehicle. I wouldn't mind a cannon and machine gun setting on the Nomad.

Those are a few things I'm curious to see and hope for. Without the whole 50k years reaper attack thing in Andromeda, I hope they can play around with exploring and taking on the Kett empire and Remnant and perhaps any other enemies that may be the ruling hand of both. Based on the Kett audio logs and dialogue between Primus and the Archon, they answer to someone bigger than themselves.

I know the ME creators have left the company but I hope the ones still there don't change much of the lore. Some has already been altered (strangely enough) but I hope they keep it intact and just continue to build and grow the world based on the new surroundings.

Anywho, those are my thoughts and ramblings. I love the world of Mass Effect and I hope to see it continue growing in this new universe.

Anyone else curious about how life will continue in Andromeda and what may change for the species?

  • I'm very curious about a quarian being a pathfinder. Would they allow a SAM? I just hope we are given more lore period in the game.

I *really* hope they don't just come up with a "renegade Quarian" excuse and instead go Hanar, Volus, or Drell. They should take the opportunity to turn one of these races into something bigger while still including the Quarians we all love instead of just maintaining the old galaxy's hierarchy.

I woud love to see a Drel pathfinder !

But would they even have one?

Quarrians weren't a council race. The Krogan on the nexus didn't have a Pathfinder and Quarrians are used to living on ships - not worlds. So maybe they don't have one?

Think Admiral DaroXen would enslave her SAM and experiment on him...  Maybe her SAM will stop telling her there's email when there isnt. LOL
