Deleted a save file but that deleted my main save file as well. Fix?

Question

I was deleting what I thought was an extra career profile. It was different from my main profile that I started and 13 hours in. It stated that it had 0 hours played and was Soldier, not Adept, which is my main profile. I thought it was just one I had made but abandoned although it had the same name as my other male Shep. However, when I deleted this extra, it deleted my main save. I tried going to Origins to access the cloud but it won't give me the option. Maybe it's because I play the game through Steam? But Steam doesn't support Cloud saves for Mass Effect Legendary Edition.

Any help? I'm really upset that I have to start over again... I was hoping to get to 2 this weekend.

@finemen_diagrams have you checked in your recycle bin (usually found on your desktop home screen.)? If it's not there, I'm afraid you might be sol.

That's so lame. I have Origin's cloud save on but it doesn't work if I get the game on Steam? So anti-consumer.

This happened to me as well, but luckily I was still early in the game to not bother me much at the time (unfortunately because the 5/17 patch keeps crashing my game also and keeps me from progressing at a normal pace). I'm also playing via Steam, and I do believe this has something to do with Origin cloud save conflicting. It created a 0 level Soldier for me as well, even though my character is an infiltrator. The joys of having Origin forced to us when using Steam.
