download speed for update is very low

Today's update is downloading very slowly in the Netherlands. At best I get 2.5MB/s, but at times it drops to 400KB/s. Usually I get over 17MB/s. It has taken over an hour already , while it could have been done in under 10 minutes. What is going on?

Keep origin client in foreground. Updates have low priority and download rate drops while origin client is not main focus.

I had the some problem. I restarted Origin and set my chat availability to 'invisible'. Download was faster after that, but I don't know if this was a coincidence.

Mine is varying considerably, I currently have 400KB/s and also have seen as high as 35.MB/s all within the last 5 minutes. So I don't know what exactly is causing the issue, but likely volume is my thought......
