No, you can have many different characters at the same time.
Just make sure the character file is named as before.
- @holger1405 Gotcha. Will be trying that out next thing tomorrow and gonna let you know how that goes!
- @holger1405 I have created a new game save but the issue is still the same
Heya,
Some things you should try.
1) As it has been mentioned, have your game run as administrator. (Steam: right-click on MELE in your library, Manage \ Browse local files, then set the admin flag on the exe, though I suppose you're done with this step.) Steam should also be ran as admin.
2) Set your antivirus program to let MELE through. This could be simply through Windows Defender, or your selected 3rd party software if you use any.
In case you are also using Windows Security, allow it through controlled folder access. (Start menu \ Settings \ Update & Security \ Windows Security \ Virus & threat protection \ Manage ransomware protection (scroll all the way down for this option) \ Controlled folder access -> if enabled, then click 'Allow an app through Controlled folder access'. Then add MELE's exe as an exception.)
3) In some cases, OneDrive can cause this problem (I know... Don't ask, lol). Try disabling the sync while playing.
- @felker_s Thank you for your suggestions, sadly I've tried them all and none seemed to help my problem.
Do you use OneDrive and if yes is your "Documents" folder included in the Auto Save feature of OneDrive?
Disabling the OneDrive folder protection completely. > Test.
Disable "Controlled folder Access" of the Windows defender completely.
If that don't helps, press the Windows key and "X" at the same time > Click on "Command prompt (Administrator)" or "PowerShell (Administrator)"
-
In the CMD or PowerShell window, at the prompt type or copy and past: takeown /f "xxxxxxxxxxxx" /r (With the quotes) (Replace the X with the full path to the C:\Users\>your user name<\Documents" folder, the quotation marks need to stay in.)
-
hit ENTER
-
You should get a success message.
- In the CMD or PowerShell window, at the prompt type or copy and paste: icacls "XXXXX" /grant YYYY:F /t /c /l /q (With the quotes) (Replace the X with the full path to the C:\Users\>your user name<\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect Andromeda" folder, the quotation marks need to stay in, Replace the Y with your user name)
- hit ENTER
- You should get a success message.
- Reboot.
- Test.

- @holger1405 Nope. No luck. I feel like I've tried everything at this point ☹️
Do you use OneDrive and if yes is your "Documents" folder included in the Auto Save feature of OneDrive? 😉
- Hit Windows key and X.
- Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” whichever option is offered.
- Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Checkhealth” without quotes. > ENTER.
- If errors are found, notify us. If no errors were found reaped steps 1 & 2.
- Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes. > ENTER.
- The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here.
- After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key and X again.
- Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command Prompt (Administrator)”
- Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter “sfc /scannow” without quotes. >ENTER.
- Post the message you receive at the end of the processes here.
- @holger1405 Nope, not using OneDrive. None of the suggested solutions seemed to work for me, although I'm able to play the game "limitedly". What I mean by that is I can't quicksave (there are no quicksaves whenever I press the "Load" button) and whenever I try to change any setting I get the stated error from before.
Did you preformed the DISM tasks?
