I want to get the ending where Shep breathes. But getting to 7,800+ war assets is proving to be extremely difficult!
I know that I should probably make peace between the Quarians and Geth, but that's difficult too Unionwells

Well, that depends. Do you also want the story segments unfold the way you'd like? Or is Shepard's survival your only goal?
There are some surefire ways to boost your military strength that require certain actions during certain quests, sometimes dating back to ME1. There is quite an extensive list here for example.
