I can only play at 30 fps

There's some issue with vsync and playing the game at 4K. I'm playing on PC, and it seems that the vsync in the game is recognizing my refresh rate as 30Hz instead of 60Hz. My resolution is at 3840 x 2160 with the refresh rate at 60Hz. Unfortunately going to a lower resolution both in the Control Panel and in the game does nothing to fix my issue.

I've tried turning off vsync in-game and enabling it in the NVIDIA Control Panel. I tried all settings, but the game simply refuses to run at 60 fps with vsync enabled. And of course, if I disable vsync, there's a ton of screen tearing. I think a solution is to change my resolution 1920 x 1080 in my NVIDIA Control Panel, but for some reason, it is only allowing me to select up to 30Hz as the refresh rate on the 1080 setting. When I select 3840 x 2160, I can select up to 60Hz.

The game select screen where you can choose between ME1, ME2 and ME3 runs at 60 fps like it should. It's only when I get into the games that they run at 30 fps.

I'm playing on a 49 Inch Sony X950H, and my specs are 2080 Ti, 64GB RAM, i9-9900k.

    @Ploobie

    Check if you are using "V-Sync Adaptive", that may be why you are seeing this behaviour. Thanks.

  • Maybe disable V-Sync and check your framerate at locations where you only get 30 FPS with V-Sync enabled. What is your framerate? If it doesn't reach 60 in those places (eg, only 56), then the behaviour would be normal as V-Synce reduces your framerate to half if the framerate is lower than the monitors refresh rate.

    A Triple Buffering Option would be very helpful, sadly even in Borderless Window mode it isn't available.

    @EA_BarryAdaptive sync only enables V-Sync when the framerate can match the monitor refresh rate. If not, V-Sync will be temporarely deactivated to prevent frame drops. In the OP case, it would be rather helpful to activate it - provided that there is no other issue that causes his problem, of course 🙂

    I already tried adaptive vsync, and the game is 30 fps everywhere. I honestly think it has something to do with the game running twice in origin and steam. There's even two options for Mass Effect Legendary Edition under Manage 3D Settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel. No other game on my PC has had this framerate issue.
