There, I said it.
I know you(Bioware) want me to pick Reyes, and made her one of the few killable characters in the game, but she's straight with me and the world, has a beautifully complicated backstory, and both the game and her will allow me to meet her snark for snark.

Maybe, but his reasons for wanting to be that fish seem different in a more positive manner than Sloane's and the fact that he is comfortable with not having a throne and not feeling a need to prove his power and not needing for people to know who he is, suggests he is quite satisfied.
The thing about a Sloane type personality is that they typically do not see themselves as having allies nor do they feel a need to submit to another's authority. So she may not want a bigger pie so to speak but with the Badlands now being (EDIT: habitable), she may feel it is her right to control all of Kadara. In fact, that fits her personality, but Reyes seems like someone who understands the need for balance as well as allies.
He's greedy sure and he will lie and use you but only to a certain extent. Like I said, to him, I think he saw Sloane as dishonorable and not civil so he dealt with her as such but observing how he wanted us to solve murders which really didn't benefit him and yet she didn't care... how she completely wrote off the Badlands while he seemed to look after them.... how he showed some respect to his ex even though she tried to kill him (nicer than me on that front lol) and just other things, I don't think he is as likely to turn on us as Sloane is.
I think what I'm trying to say is, between the two of them, Sloane appears to have a greater disregard towards others than Reyes does. They are both criminals, but not all criminals are equal that is for sure and Sloane just doesn't seem to care in the grand scheme of things while Reyes appears to and doesn't seek credit for it either.

I am feeling we are either going to face Reyes or Kaetus as antagonist again at some point. Just like I'm pretty sure we haven't heard the last of Spencer. I guess I'll see how noble his intentions truly were/are when he reappears. I ended up not shooting him in the back on reload, since I couldn't actually kill him, so if he wants to play nice in the future the option is there. 🙂

I am definitely not saying you're wrong or that this prediction doesn't make sense. It makes plenty of sense. I just don't agree, lol.
I think Reyes was kind of meant to be like a Robin Hoodish type character. That's just the impression I got and Robin don't betray his allies/friends, lol.
But here's a question for you, would you be disappointed if we didn't end up facing either of those guys?
Personally, if Reyes betrayed us, my character would be disappointed, but I wouldn't. Because I do think there's enough logic to support him turning on us. I wouldn't feel like it was forced.
But what about you? If Reyes turned out to be a stand up guy, would you be upset? Would you feel like it was forced?
And warning, even if you say "yes" I'm not going to challenge that opinion. I think I've said everything I could regarding my stance on Reyes and Sloane so I am just asking out of curiosity.

I'll even give Reyes a break - I think he's supposed to be some strange hybrid of WWII French Resistance/ Han Solo/ Robin Hood. I will be genuinely surprised if he does not try to step on our heads on the way to "some higher purpose" at some point... I just suspect that the purpose is "to be somebody". I wouldn't be upset if he flipped and became a standup guy, but it would look out of character to me.

I'm not saying I always succeed at this nor am I saying that I think it is wrong to do, but personally I try to avoid challenging how someone feels. So if you would feel disappointed if he turned out not to stab us in the back because you would feel like it was forced, I already addressed why I don't think it would be so I can't see challenging beyond that.

But kidding aside, if you feel like it would be out of character for him to not try to betray us in a major way, I get it. You already know my view. That neither Han nor Robin would screw us over.

will reyes turn on ryder? well, most of my PCs were pretty decent to him, and he owes them at least 3 big favors each, i'd have to say... it would be logical, and would make perfect sense for him to turn on ryder, however i don't feel it. so, i guess that's a no, i don't think he'll stab a "nice" ryder in the back.
Oh yes, two reasons more "for Reyes":
- I know his secret. It's not a "big thing" but something he don't want that to many people know. In german you say "in der Hand haben". You have him "in your hand", ok just a bit.
- I liked A LOT that he gave money to the doctors hospital (without saying that is the collectiv), when Sloane was alive. This was really nice, even if he have done it for selfish reasons.

There's a datapad on a table in Sloane's old digs talking about Kaetus and the puppet Angara talks about him as well. He's not going anywhere. Sure, you can say he's not being mistreated where I can see but the guy got curb stomped for being Sloane's boyfriend once already - even the lady in "charge" thinks he should be let go but Reyes isn't going to do that. There may be more stuff in the port - I didn't really poke around much in the Reyes as boss branch.
Yap, You can speak about Kaetus directly with Reyes in Tartarus (slums bar). Reyes believes that Kaetus is a worthy foe, and would be a great asset if he turned to work for the Collective. Ryder can then either tell that it is possible; or that Kaetus will never work with Sloane's murdered (the second option makes Reyes sad).
He's used you, unwittingly, no less than 5 times.
Uh... No, I am quite sure that he has not. E.g. helping with Roekaars cannot be perceived as "using" Ryder - it is a genuine thing (which means that Ryder was just as interested in this as Reyes could ever has been), plus as far as I can tell it was Ryder who started the investigation.

Heh. Who'd ever guess the guy you curb stomped, murdered his girlfriend, and jailed (in addition to probably interrogating in creative ways) who is on a hunger strike wouldn't want to be your employee. Poor Reyes. 🙂
So, he really didn't know what the collective knew about the murders and planting bombs was my plan? While I would of put an end to them anyway, this, like freeing the traitor, I still count.
