Impossible to download the game

Sorry to hear about the trouble with your installation process. Can you please create a new Windows admin account and complete the downloading process in it?

My account is already a local one, with admin privileges. For the sake of it, I created another brand new one.

Did not fix, still stuck at 14% "preparation".

Okay, let's try something else. Change the EA app language to any other language from the settings menu and see if that will allow you to complete the installation process. 

Already done, changed the app language, also tried the region and game language.

I tried to change the language in the app, and on the account management page. As the region cannot be forced through the app (based on IP address) I also tried through a VPN.

I've seen some old posts where a similar error was fixed by installing a missing  Visual C++ runtime package. See this article for reference.

Let me know if that works.

I do not have any other EA games (and as this is going, I probably will not either in the future). So I did my best to reproduce the end results. I reinstalled all VC++ distribution x86/x64 from 2005 to up to date. Enabled all functionalities from .NET 3.5/4.8.

Did not fix.

Do you use the default installation folder on the EA app? See if you can change the installation location and then complete the downloading process. 

Make sure to close any background applications to run the EA app. 

Thanks. In general, it's recommended to leave the EA app's default installation path, and only change the games' installation locations if necessary. 

Have you also tried to run the downloading process after starting your PC in clean boot mode? 

Also, make sure the EA app is excluded from your Windows firewall and antivirus. It is an important step to prevent those programs from blocking the files.  

Clean boot did not fix.

You can add a note in the guide about not disabling the EABackgroundService.exe. In order to not lose time having to find the service or rebooting the PC one more time for nothing (As EA app won't work if you disable it).

I may have forgotten to mention that I can download other game like Apex Legends and The Sims 4 without a problem. For the sake of it, is there a way to test if the size of the game I'm trying to download matters? As both Apex and the Sims are below 100Go and Mass effect is 110Go alone. Would it be the problem?
