@holger1405 Clean Boot didn't change anything, the app is still not responding and pops back to launcher menu.
There is no antivirus on the pc other than what comes with windows. There are no afterburner or overclocking apps.
Running out of ideas here.
- Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
- In the new Window, type or copy and paste "%LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps" (Without the quotation marks) > Press ENTER
- Look if there are any "MassEffect1.exe.Xxxx.dmp" or "MassEffectLauncher.exeXxxx.dmp" files in the "..Local\CrashDumps" folder.
- Zip 2 - 3 "MassEffect1.exe.Xxxx.dmp" or "MassEffectLauncher.exeXxxx.dmp" files together and upload them at a free file hosting service like Dropbox or Onedrive.
- Post the link here.
If there aren't any dump files of ME:
- Press the Windows key > Write: Command Prompt > Right click on "Command Prompt" in the search results > Run as administrator.
- Copy and paste reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\devenv.exe" /v DumpType /d 2 /t REG_DWORD into the prompt Window > Press ENTER.
- Play the game until it crashes.
- After the game crashes, let all Windows crash dialogues finish.
- Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time. > Type "%LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps" (Without the quotation marks) into the new window > Press ENTER.
- Zip 2 - 3 "MassEffect1.exe.Xxxx.dmp" or "MassEffectLauncher.exeXxxx.dmp" files together and upload them at free file hosting service like Dropbox.
- Post the link here.
If you want to undo the automatic dump creation, use the command below in a elevated command prompt (As in point 1) reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps" /f

It is the same NULL_POINTER_READ access violation I saw a dozen times and still can't pinpoint.
It is very likely a driver on your system that is causing this problem.
- Klick on Start > Choose "on/off" Press the Shift Key > Click on "Restart"
- Windows now boots into the recovery Screen. Choose "Troubleshot" > Advanced Options > Startup Settings Click "Restart"
- After the PC restart you will see a list of options > Press "F5" for "Safe Mode with Networking"
- Try to start the game. No drivers expect network drivers are loaded in this mode, meaning the game is rendered in software, so it will take a wile to get to the launcher and so on.
You of course can't play this way, the idea is to find out if a normally loaded driver is causing the error.
To leave the Save environment, just restart the system.

Thanks @holger1405
Booting in safe mode actually made it run!
Any idea how to best eliminate which driver is causing it?It's a pretty old PC and i ran the game with both old and new drivers across the board, upgrading gpu drivers, chipset, usb drivers etc. via Driver booster for Steam. Both pre and post update was the same.
