LE Virmire game-stopping bug

I'm up to the part in Virmire where the bomb has been planted, and you need to go rescue Kaidan/Ashley from the AA tower.

I can't get past the door into the Krogan Breeding Trench. The door control is white/inactive, and there's no alternate route.

I've:

* Tried with different team members

* gone back to an older save (5-10 min)

* rebooted the PS4 (OG)

* rebuilt the database on the PS4

I can't continue.

    @Allochthons

    Is the door you're trying to open the one on the upper right of the map or the one on the lower left? It's the lower left door you want to go through.

    @AllochthonsHmm, this one is tricky because when that happened to me preventing going back to the MAKO I just reloaded the game and done but it seems you tried that. Is this the first time it happened to you?

    Potential Spoilers for ME2 and ME3

    I have a few criticism of the VS (just relegated to a cameo in ME2, A/K accusations in both ME 2 and 3 were valid BUT they were bullrushed and a big hanging thread about Williams grandfather having commanded TIM, and how he might have had a daughter named Cora Harper which might have crossed paths with Ashley Williams, was left forgotten) but, for this specific bug I would try reloading the mission. Does it always fail at that point?

    @draconiam This is the first game-stopping bug I've had in ME I LE. I've had a few smaller bugs, but mostly just things like audio dropping out, no big deal.
    I definitely reloaded the game.
    And rebuilding the database means I also shut down the PS4 completely and restarted.

    My next try, tomorrow, will be to restart Virmire entirely. Thank goodness for lots of save files!

    If that doesn't work, can I start ME2 with THIS incomplete game file? Or would I have to start a new character?

    @Allochthons You would need to start a new character, do you have any other Shepard who have completed ME1? If not then you will need to use the Genesis comic or resolve the issue and finish your game OR start over. @holger1405

    Well, *. You're right! Both of the stairways on the map say "To AA Tower."  :headdesk:

    I feel pretty stupid. But! I can continue! So thanks so much.

    Don't feel that way I've lost track of how many times I've played before MELE came out and I ran around that area three times before remembering that I needed the the lower left door. I also forgot the Mako on the way to the ExoGeni facility on Fero...😳
