Mass Effect franchise isn't really a big source of revenue to pay the $20 billion debt.
EA picked the Reaper ending
Well, frankly it's better to have a game that the people love and see the community caring about it rather than being a cash grab with microtransactions and DLCs that are overpriced for no other reason than being an unnecessary amount of BS like BF6, Call of Duty (modern eras), GTA, just to name three IPs. Sims 4 is doing the exact same. Why complain about Mass Effect being a $20B debt solver? Gaming is built on risks. Studios and devs know it better than you think. EA and Rockstar don't care about it, they only care about making moola of it. I would put Activision there if they only madeCoD and didn't have Blizzard. WoW is probably an MMORPG mixing subscribtion and F2P as well as minor microtransactions. Bethesda is the reason that exists the way it does since TES: IV Oblivion with the FIRST DLC made being horse armor. Now ESO is filled with many oddities for a coin you feel like spending or CC in Skyrim AE, Starfield, or Fallout 4 (somewhat in 76). Bethesda decided to take a risk which lead to an improvement in gaming. Sure as Oblivion I'll die on this hill with saying don't worry about a company's debt. It's on them for making **bleep** decisions like Veilguard or BO7.
