In the original ME1, Level 50 was the cap for your first playthrough with Level 60 only attainable on New Game Plus.
In the remastered ME1, there is no level cap. The Legendary Edition also includes two leveling systems. A "classic" mode with 60 levels based on the original and a new "legendary" mode with 30 levels inspired by ME2 & ME3. Both are suppose to give the same number of skill points and can be switched to and from in the options.
However, some players are encountering a BUG where they reach Level 29 (on Legendary mode) or Level 59 (on Classic mode) and no longer receive XP. This makes reaching Level 30 (Legendary) & Level 60 (Classic) impossible for them.
The cause of the glitch is currently unknown and there are no known workarounds if you're affected. A few have theorized that switching between legendary and classic leveling mid-playthrough might be the cause. Although, at least one player did not switch between modes and was still hit by this glitch. There is also a discrepancy in how points are distributed between both leveling modes where they don't line up exactly where they should. All of which might also contribute to this bug.

And judging by reports, it seems to affect all platforms.
- TheBrodalorian5 years agoSeasoned Traveler@Dresden_N7 I’m stuck with this problem too, I didn’t change from legendary leveling to classic at a though. Did the person your referenced beat the game a 2nd time? I’m about halfway through my 2nd playthrough and I should be 30 but I’m not. Was hoping that it would maybe ping by the end….

Same issue. Used legendary level system up until I realized it glitched and didn't hit 30. Switched to classic, then back to legendary, and it said 30, however on import into ME2 it recognized as level 59- not 60. Annoying, but not game breaking obviously.

When would we see a fix for it?

Hi,
I was just levelling my ME1 Shepard, and when I got to where I would expect to see myself hit level 60 (in classic mode), I instead top out at level 59.
I have hit the maximum amount of XP, to the point where I just get given 0 XP instead, but my level still says 59.
Speaking to others, it sounds like this won't affect my importing into ME2, but it still feels wrong/weird that it won't tick over to level 60.
See attached for a screenshot of my XP and level.
Has anyone else experienced this, and anyone got any ideas of how to fix it, or is it just a bug the needs fixing with the game itself?
Cheers.

Yeah, that was my understanding for the original game, but I seem to remember they specifically saying that you can reach level 60 in one playthrough in the legendary edition.
For this bug/ticket/whatever, I have hit the amount of XP required for level 60, but the actual level itself has just not moved from 59 to 60, if that makes sense?

Have two separate characters and both are bugged.

It is definitely not caused by switching between the modes.
You can reach a "displayed" level 30 without receiving the final talent point if you're at level 59 with max XP and switch mode to Legendary. Some people used this crude hack to import a "max level" Shepard into ME2 and continue playing.

For me, I AM gaining XP, but the level-up isn't happening. I have more than enough XP for LVL 30/60, but I'm stuck at 29/57.
