12 years agoLeviathan DLC crashing
I'm on the asteroid, just got done repairing the elevator with the drone, but as soon as I get to the upper floor & run out into the hallway, the game locks up. I've tried restarting the game, resta...

"Well, there's your problem Lady!" 😕mileytongue:
Actually, I'm now out of ideas (especially since you said "it used to work".) Getting Windows apps to run on Macs (using BootCamp, or any other shim) is well beyond my expertise. So many, many places where a slip can occur. 😕mileyfrustrated:
The fact that it used to work is precisely why I sincerely doubt this issue is bootcamp, especially since others are having the same exact reproducable issue on vastly different hardware.
Yes, others are having the same issue. But it's a tiny (miniscule, in fact) fraction of all ME3-Leviathan players on PCs.
(Wonder if they're all "PC-on-Mac" users as well? Hadn't thought to ask, since they're providing PC specs. Like you did...)
So while it's definitely an issue, isolating and reproducing it seems to be incredibly difficult.
I experience the same elevator problem, and shouldn't have an issue with graphics at all. Rest of the game has played fine.
Dell Precision M6600
Intel Core i7-2640M @ 2.80 GHz
7.95 GHz Physical Memory
AMD FirePro M8900 (FireGL) Mobility Pro Graphics
OS: Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
DirectX 11
I just discovered my video card drivers are outdated, but I don't think that's causing the issue, since the rest of the game runs fine.
*edit* Updated the drivers with no luck*
Repaired both ME3 base files and the DLC. Multiplayer has run fine for teh past couple weeks. Just bought Leviathan today, and it's not working.
Lowered the graphics all the way possible with the configuration utlitiy and lowered the resolution, plus windowed with and without the border. Tried running it in compatability with no luck. Origin already runs in admin mode, but I haven't tried running ME3 in admin.

Alright Thandal, I have a challenge for you then over the next few weeks if you so choose to undertake it. Delete the 'Default.sfar' file under the directory specified below.
C:\Program Files\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\DLC\DLC_EXP_Pack001 or wherever you have ME3 installed.
Then delete the 'installerdata' file in the directory
C:\Program Files\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\DLC\__metadata\DLCEXPPACK001\__Installer or again if you have ME3 installed somewhere else use that path.
Then, it is as simple as hitting the repair button on the DLC. It should automatically reinstall it. From there you can get to the point where we are having the freezing issue in probably 2-4 hours on the easiest difficulty. If you don't encounter the same crash, then we can say that it probably isn't a corrupted file being sent out from Origins.
This challege would apply to anyone else that hasn't had the issue and is looking at this thread as well. Now, I completely understand if you don't want to do this challenge. If my game was working I certainly wouldn't want to do anything to **** it up. But there seem to be a few issues with Leviathan not just related to this specific problem (http://answers.ea.com/t5/Mass-Effect-3/Mass-Effect-3-Leviathan-DLC-Glitch/m-p/2440121#U2440121). I could certainly be wrong, but I believe there is something wrong with the file EA is sending out or perhaps the installation process itself is somehow corrupting the file. I don't know, I'm not technical with coding and the like, but considering how different everyone's hardware seems to be that is getting this glitch I don't think this is a hardware issue.
@peanuts;
Challenge most defintely accepted!
I run with full-disk file-by-file backup, so no worries about being able to restore things to working order if they go tango uniform.
Might take a while, since I want to throughly document my current state, the changes made, and the results.
At least I found a Save with Adm. Hackett's message about seeing Dr. Bryson newly arrived at Shepard's private terminal, so I can start playing from there after I let EA/Origin make the "repairs". 😕mileywink:
OK, .sfar file and installer.xml deleted. Origin reports game repaired, but, (as expected) Leviathan not installed. Downloading now...
CHALLENGE COMPLETED. 😕mileywink:
Bottom Line:
No issues with repairing, re-installing, or playing Leviathan.
No problems with the files received from EA/Origin, and so it appears to be only certain players' specific hardware/software configurations that have the issue.
See this record of testing (MS Word version of OneNote): NOTES regarding testing for difficulties some players have with the Leviathan DLC.
Sad that Leviathan isn't working for you, but glad that Leviathan works fine for the overwhelming majority of players.
So, strangely enough, I managed to get around the CtD area, literally.
Instead of walking straight out into the doorway, I walked around the edge, and it fixed whatever was breaking the game.

W00t! Kudos for this, brazentiger. Hopefully, it will help others with the same problem.
@peanuts104; Now we have a challenge for you, wouldn't you say? 😕mileywink:
Can you go into more specifics about how you went around it? I've tried to do that a few different ways and it still crashes.
