Mass effect 1 lost ability

I am aware that this was a known bug in the original game where Adepts and Sentinels end up with too many powers and their bonus power gets deleted.  However, since you also cannot reset your skill points in Mass Effect 1, I hope that this bug can finally be fixed in the Legendary Edition, or possibly add the ability to reset your skill points instead.

The ability is not really deleted, there is just not enough room in the power bar for the additional power.

I doubt that this will get fixed, a workaround is to drag the ability to the quick bar before you get the last ability that pushes the bonus power from the power bar.
From there you can still use it even if it is gone from the power bar.

  • It would be nice to get a fix indeed, though considering the lack of communication from the developers since the June patch, I doubt we'll be getting anything. There is plenty of room in the ability bar on the PC LE, unlike Holger1405 said. It is just that they did not bother fixing this well-known bug. I've had this also happen with my Sentinel character once I unlocked my last ability, which was Neural Shock. Even though there were two empty slots left in the ability bar, my Warp power disappeared. Then there's the bug with Liara - after unlocking Stasis, Overload disappeared from her ability bar, even though there was an empty slot left.

What exactly did I not understand about what you wrote? Instead of being condescending, you might want to explain it, if you think I did not understand.

You said that that there is not enough room in the power bar for the additional power which is just plain incorrect on the PC version of the game. I don't know about the consoles. I explained my issue and said that there are plenty of spots left for the abilities, yet the bug still occurs. Maybe reread what I said instead? 😉

    OK, lets try.

There is, as the state of the game is now, not enough room in the power bar for the last power. Period! 😉

There is no more space in the Power Bar because the programmers of the original games made a mistake regarding the really usable slots

    That is the bug.

I was of course not talking about the physical space available, or the unused slot, that world be ridiculous.

Fair enough. I did not take your sentence about the 'not enough room in the power bar' meant 'usable' room rather than just the useless empty slots. I apologise for my previous aggressive response, I must have had an off day and took it out on you, which is not fair ☹️

I find it odd that the devs bothered to increase the amount of slots that look 'available' as you say, but are not actually used. I suppose it is not an issue that really hampers the game progress, what with all the other abilities one can use, but this was such a well known gameplay bug that you'd think they would fix it in a remaster. At least you can get around it for Shepard using the workaround you mentioned.
