@EA_ShepardRun as admin and app recovery did not work. This was not a problem on Origin.
Its clear that there is an compatibility issue between ME1 and EA app.
Since Origin is no longer around the issue is something that nees to fixed from EA`s side of things.
I tested it myself, and I got the exact same error. Mass Effect can't be installed. The suggested workarounds (delete cache, run as admin) unfortunately didn't help.

Hey Everyone,
I tested this myself, and I was able to get it downloaded. I have two internal drives. One SSD and one HDD (for games) As that error is a pretty generic error, I wanted to make sure everyone has gone through the following steps. @Fred_vdp I appreciate you testing this out as well. 👍
Nvidia
- Try the NVIDIA PhysX Legacy System
- Restart the PC.
- Test.
Delete Windows Temp Files
- Press the Windows key + R, go into the file explorer
- Type in %temp%, and hit Enter
- Delete everything it allows you to delete
- Reboot the PC
Windows Steps
-
If you have two drives, change them if you can
- Run the System File Checker tool then Check for Windows and GPU updates
-
Install/Repair your VC++ files for the game (Microsoft VC++ Link)
-
Try a new Windows User Account
-
Reset Windows Host File
- Change UAC Controls within Windows
Optional Registry clean-up
- install CCleaner (it's free) from here
- Run Registry cleaner
- Click fix all
- Do not back up files
If these do not work, Please post the following info so we can have it looked into as it may not be a game issue but a related EA App issue that is being tracked.

Did you have it try to install on the SSD by chance? I do not have an HDD to test with, and I saw one other post here that might've indicated that it doesn't like installing on the SSD, so I'm curious about that now.

@FaceCombat Apologies, I tested it on both drives to make sure there was no conflicting in the install path or old cached files on either drive.

None of the troubleshooting steps worked. Here's the requested info:
Platform: EA app
EA Username: Fred_vdp
Date/time issue occurred: Last occurred Monday 8 May 2023 17:26 UTC
What type of issue do you have? Technical/Install/
accountSummarize your bug: Mass Effect 1 can't be installed from EA app.
How often does the bug occur? Everytime I try to download Mass Effect 1 (original).
What happens when the bug occurs? The EA app is calculating disk space. Very soon after I get the error "There's a problem with your download." No such issue with other games.
If possible, share a Screenshot or Clip...⬅️We love these: Video

@Fred_vdp I appreciate that. I sent this info over to them for review. They requested more of these, so thank you for replying with that info. 👍
