@MACHINE_brHUE  Sorry for the late reply.  Try clearing Origin's cache:

    https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

and repairing the game: open your Origin game library, right-click on the MELE icon, and select Repair.

If that doesn't help, try setting exceptions in Kaspersky for MassEffect1.exe and Origin.exe.

If that doesn't help either, try playing with a different sound device that uses a different type of output, e.g. built-in speakers vs. headphones connected via jack.

@MACHINE_brHUE  Please disable Kaspersky entirely, just long enough to test, and let me know whether it helps.  Some antivirus programs have additional settings that need to be tweaked.

If you still can't launch ME1, please open this location:

    [install path]\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Game\ME1\BioGame

and move the Config folder to your desktop, then try to play.

If that doesn't help either, please try playing in a clean boot.

When you reboot, go through the Task Manager's background processes list disabling everything that doesn't absolutely need to be running.  For example, your graphics driver needs to be running, but MSI Afterburner and RGB control software do not.  Disable Kaspersky as well for this test.

And if nothing makes a difference, please post a new dxdiag.

@MACHINE_brHUE  That's interesting to hear.  There wasn't a Mass Effect patch, but maybe some other software patched?  If so, I'd love to know what it was, in case someone else has the same problem.
