Mass Effect 2 * poor clipping issues

For about the 30th time I've had to restart a area because while walking along I'll end up clipping my way up on top of a fence or some other item and then be unable to get back down.  I dont remember having these issues the first time I played Mass Effect 2, many many years ago.  So why the hell is it happening now.  Fix this or at least give me a way to noclip my way back into areas that I can continue the game in.

Because starting over after spending 10 or 15 minutes fighting my way through a area sucks *!
