Mass Effect 2 DLC Broken for Steam

What it says. I got ME2 on Steam, then picked up the DLC from here https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/download-dlc-for-classic-origin-games/

The problem is twofold. First when I start up the game I get a message about the DLC not being authorized and having to log in first. Then when I try to enter my key and log in to the cerberus network it says my "connection was interrupted."

How are other steam purchasers getting the DLC to work? If it's just broken then does it work through origin? I'm really hoping to avoid dealing with origin, but I'll do it as a last resort if it means I can check out ME2 with all the bells and whistles.

I found a solution to my problem a few minutes after posting this, so I'll throw it up here for anyone having the same problem. Go to this link and redeem the key you got for the cerberus network from steam. https://myaccount.ea.com/cp-ui/redemption/index

Then just start up the game again. You'll get the not authorized message again, but then cerberus network will connect and all the DLC will be active.

The ones that aren’t in the picture basically.

  • my question to this is  this, if i buy the the dlcs to do the kasumi mission and all the other missing dlc from the Steam Mass Effect bundle from Origin, will it give me the code to redeem it on steam or do i have to spend more money for the base game again?

In theory it should work this way now:

    • You buy the DLC pack In Origin or the Origin Website with your EA/Origin account.
    • Redeem the Steam CD keys here.
    • Download the DLCs from this side and then install them to your Steam game.
    • Start the game > At the start screen log on to the "Cerberus network" with the credentials of your EA/Origin account you bought the DLC pack with.
    • The DLC should get authorized and work in your Steam game.

However, I have not received confirmation from a player whether it really works that way.

Still, even if it don't works this way, you won't have to buy the main game again, you already redeemed the Steam CD keys in Origin for free above, so you can download and play the game with origin.

  • i bought the dlc bundle form the origin store, and it gave me the receipt saying that i did so, but its not showing me the redeemable code for it, ...... so what do i do now?

i also have used the link you provided  clicked on the ME2 update setup and got this after trying to install it...... This update for Mass Effect 2 is not for the Steam distribution of the game. Please run Steam to keep your install of ME2 up to date.

The update is not relevant, you need to download and install the DLCs beneath it.

The "Cerberus Network Downloads" should be already part of your game, so you need to download the DLCs under "DLC:"

    Genesis
    Arrival
    Overlord
    Lair of the Shadow Broker
    Kasumi – Stolen Memory

    Firepower Pack
    Aegis Pack
    Equalizer Pack
Alternate Appearance Pack 1 (Garrus, Thane, Jack)
Alternate Appearance Pack 2 (Tali, Grunt, Miranda)
