I just started a whole new post about this exact issue. A couple days ago after updating ME2 I started getting this cipher error (0x0006) and I cant even launch the game. Ive done everything mentioned in the previous posts and nothing has worked. I also have the trilogy and ME1 and 3 work perfect even after the updates but, ME2 has issues. This is the name of the new post/thread; ME2 Grunt Loyalty mission freeze. My list of problems/errors started with this single mission failing to begin and causing ME2 to "not respond". It was freezing up my whole computer at first and then I started having missing file errors then finally this invalid license code.

I have the problem that I brought a single version for ME2 and the later also brought the digital deluxe edition of the same game - now I can't play game anymore (with the reason: Invalid License Reason Code = Invalid Cipher (0x0006)). But I don't understand how I can fix that (seams to be that origin has a problem accepting the two keys...).
- ApprovedAnonymous10 years agoThis is how I fixed that exact problem with my copies. I updated both versions until they both said they were ready to go. Meaning no more updates available. I did this in the Origin program by the way. I always launch my games with Origin instead of directly from the game. Anyway after I updated them both what worked for me was I update the regular version one more time and somehow it actually played the deluxe edition perfectly. But as soon as I try to update the deluxe one again it gets that license error. So update them both but update the version you won't be launching last. It doesn't make sense but that's how I fixed it on my computer. Also in my case Origin and Cloud saved all my data in a way that no matter which version I launched all my data including DLCs were available. Even when I uninstalled everything and redownlaoded it i still got all my saves back. So try updating them then launch the one you did not update last and it should work. That's how mine was fixed.

With the Origin version it's automatic. Seems like a little thing but there it was.
