Mass Effect 2 Long Service Medal and Genesis comic

I recently purchased Mass Effect 2 again on PS3, and I would really like to get the Platinum trophy for the game. One of the trophies is the Long Service Medal which requires an import from ME1 or completion of the game twice. I've read multiple things about this subject and gotten two different answers but nothing concrete. If I use the Genesis comic, without importing a save from ME1, will I still get the Long Service Medal on my first playthrough? Or will I have to play through twice without an import, despite using the comic?
