Mass effect 2: Your hardware is unsupported and game wont even start

Hi,

 I have this problem.

I have installed ME2 and I actually played it for 25 hours so far. And one day it said: Your hardware is unsupported and your performance may be reuduced.

Or something like that, I have it in czech so I just tried to translate. It says that the game should still  run but it does NOT. I just w8 and nothing happends. Some cloud stuff shows up, initiallizing something, 5 procent, 10 procent, 100 % and then nothing, like I didint press start the game at all. The weird this is I didint change ANYTHING at all with my laptop and one day this happend.

Things I tried:

Run as an administrator.

Reinstall, repair, delete saves just to start the game, delete config and saves then repair and still the same thing with the unsupported hardware.

I have tried to change my drivers,... like 5x .

The config only sees my Intel HD graphics 3000 and not my geforce 520 mx but to be honest I have not check what it was seeing when the game was actually working. I tried to put ME2 into the NVidia supported programs and told it to start right away with the better graphic card and nothing I did helped.

I am kinda out of my wit and I really hope that someone has already solved this problem, even tho I didint find any forum thread about it. Not even the same problem only some close ones.

I thank anyone who finds time and just read this thread and anyone who even tries to help me has my gratitude.

Sorry for some bad grummah engrish stuff but I hope I can be understood.

Aleš

  • I believe you have to go into the Nvidia control panel, go to 'manage 3D settings' and make sure the Nvidia GPU is always preferred.

If you've done that, or it simply doesn't work, you may have to disable the integrated graphics entirely to force the system to launch ME2 with the Nvidia GPU. You may be able to disable the Intel graphics in your BIOS. If Windows doesn't boot after this, you have a deeper problem, so just reboot and enable the integrated graphics again.

Ok, it seems I have found the solution...

It has, suprisingly, nothing to do with the graphic card... I am running the game on my HD graphics 3000 without any lag...

Ok so I have uninstalled the whole game again...

I have also deleted ALL saves or data arround masseffect... whole ME2 saves file has to GO.

If you wanna keep your saves of some character(s) ur playing you need to copy and paste the folder NAME_Class_lvl_number to somwhere else...

    For example TryGG_Infiltrator_24_252331

After you have deleted everything, go and instal the game again.

Once you are done, DONT EVEN think about running the config, it fcked everything up for me...

Now go into your ME2 folder, binaries and run ME2game

    It should work...

Ok if it does, turn off the game and put the saves of your characters into documents, BioWare, MassEffect2 and create folder ''Save'' and put it into it.

Now you should be able to run the game from origin... if cloud asks, tell it to use your current saves in PC.

Again, dont ever run config, it made the game not to start for me with the stupid error announce before it Every Damn Time... and I have tried it like 6x.

    I hope it helped.

My thanks to Fred for even trying to help me.
