Like everyone, I'm sure, I was extremely excited to hear that Mass Effect 2 and 3 were backwards compatible on N7 Day! However, to my disappointment, now that I have it installed and all my DLC redownload, it freezes on the menu when checking for downloadable content every time. I have done everything possible to fix this issue, including all of the steps and known issue forum.suggestions. Nothing is working. Please help.

I got it working with the help of Bob from Microsoft Tech support. This is what we did: I went into the Settings, went down to disc and blu-ray settings, and cleared the blu-ray persistent storage. Then I turned the Xbox One off by holding the off button on the console for FIVE seconds. Then I rebooted, waited for the Xbox to go through the full boot procedure (green screen with the three animated dots). Then I started the game and it ran. I guess it had something to do with corrupted files. Hope this helps someone.

@KelsFAMOUS Thanks for the post. Are you using a disc, digital purchase or EA Access version of the game? Does it still freeze if you don't install the DLC?

Does ME2 work ok?

This is clearly the Retaliation DLC glitch. The game freezes upon DLC validation in the menu. Happened to me almost a year ago on 360. It's followed me over to the Xbox One Back Compat 360 emulator, with all game files loaded onto different console drives. So this is obviously an issue on the server side.

The solution is slightly different on Xbox One, since the host console itself does not freeze:

- Quit [X] the frozen game from Xbox One home menu

- Uninstall Retaliation DLC from ME3 'Manage game' interface

- Open ME3 and wait for game menu DLC checks to complete

- Navigate back to Xbox One home menu and re-install Retaliation DLC from ME3 'Mange game' interface

(this is only necessary if you intend to play multiplayer; single player can skip Retaliation altogether)

- Go back into ME3, and the game menu should refresh from where you left off

Very disappointing that this server side glitch couldn't have been addressed prior to re-opening to a large new/returning player-base.

I'm having the same issue, though I don't think it's related to the DLC. This is for the N7 collectors disk version of the game.

1. Popped in the game disk and downloaded the game and all the DLC attached to the account.

2. Installed the game and all the DLC

3. started the game and it loads though the splash screen then the xbox 360 screen

4. the game then goes to black, and you can hear the audio for the menu start up, but then immediately is cut off. An xbox alert noise also fires, but then the game hangs.

I then cycled the xbox, fired up the game again, same issue.

Uninstalled all the dlc, cycled the xbox, fired up the game again, same issue.

Uninstalled the full game, cycled the xbox, reinstalled it, fired up the game, same issue.

Same exact thing happens to me. I am currently reinstalling everything so hopefully that will fix it.

Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't appear to fix it. ☹️

I'm having the exact same problem. Like the OP, I have the collector's version of the game. I have also tried deleting and reinstalling the game. I have also tried wiping the save game data off the hard drive. Any ideas?

For anybody who's also having this problem, I finally got the game working last night. I'm not sure if what I did actually fixed it, but it's worth a shot for other folks.

Since I've got the disk version (collectors) of the game I popped in disk two and tried running it.Still no DLC installed. The game loaded, then minimized, then told me to put in a disk (disk 1). I then loaded in disk one and the game loaded correctly. Then I went and installed all my DLC. Give it a shot, worth trying at least, especially since its faster than installing the game over and over again.

I went to Gamestop to repurchase the disk and neither of them are doing anything. I reinstalled the game and all DLC from the disk aswell, but nothing.

This is what is happening to me!! So frustrating! I have installed and uninstalled about 4 times! With and without the DLC and with and without the Xbox 360 disc. It will not work and I am unsure what action to take now! Mass Effect 2 works just fine, so I don't know what the issue is!

The disks are fine? (clean, not scratched?)

You tried to clean the Disk even if they look fine?

If so I suggest to contact Xbox support, and if they can not help you EA directly. If you are not from the US change the country in the top right corner.

If that still don't brings any progress, it could be a defective disk.
