Mass Effect 3 Wont Launch Windows 10

Hello,

Every time I try to launch ME3, the process appears in the task manager for 3-5 seconds then disappears.  

Fixes tried:

  • replaced both awc / eacore dll
  • deleted documents me3 folder
  • Installed / reinstalled nvidia graphics drivers
  • disabled cloud saves / origin in game
  • ran everything as administrator and or in compatibility mode
  • reinstalled vcredist 2005/2008
  • disabled all firewalls / AV 
  • ran activation.exe (although it didn't seem to do anything)
  • cleared origin program data (other than local content) and app data in roaming and local
  • updated origin
  • ran cc reg cleaner
  • tried both with SLI enabled and disabled
  • ran in windowed and fullscreen 
  • reinstalled origin / mass effect 3
  • repaired installation (and again replaced the dll files)
  • ran SFC (see below no issues)
  • and of course restarted / tested after most of these steps 

I'm at a complete loss..  if anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated!

I have also attached the dxdiag for reference.

    @holger1405

    So a clean install of windows 10 solved the problem.  I really don't know what was causing it but there's no issues now.  I have my suspicions that maybe it had to do with upgrading to win10 rather than a clean install.   That said I hadn't had any other problems at all in the year or so since I installed it.   

    I really appreciate all your help!

    @W1ldkat

    The faulty module is part of the NVIDIA software. ME3 don't uses CUDA, so I assume that this is a PhysX problem.

    Go here and download the Nvidia PhysX software.

    Go to your Windows control panel > Programs and features > deinstall the PhysX software from your computer > reboot.

    Run the "PhysX-9.16.0318-SystemSoftware.exe" as Administrator > reboot > test.

    I just tried those steps and got the same error / symptoms.  I had also previously reinstalled the full driver.

    @W1ldkat

    Please go to your "S:\Games\Mass Effect 3\__Installer\physx\redist" folder and run the "PhysX-9.11.1107-SystemSoftware.msi" > reboot > test.

    If that don't works, disable cloud saves for ME3.

    Close Origin completely.

    Go to your "Documents\Bioware\Mass Effect 3" folder and move the "Save" folder and the "BIOGame" folder to your Desktop.

    Start Origin > Start the game.

    Tried both of those and unfortunately still no luck.  Same symptoms ME 3 32bit loads for ~4 seconds in task manager then closes.

    Do you have the Retaliation DLC?

    Do you run any mods?

    Go here and download DDU.

    Go here and download this driver.

    Run DDU in save mode to deinstall all NVIDIA components.

    After reboot, go to your "C:\Windows\System32" and in your "C:\Windows\SysWOW64" folder and make sure the "nvcuda.dll" is gone from this folders.

    Install the driver I linked. (preform a costume installation, Install only the driver and the PhysX software) > Test.

    No I don't have any DLC or mods.  Clean install purchased yesterday.  

    I will give that a try.

    No luck.  I booted into safe mode and checked for the file in both locations (it was not there).

    Please unplug your second Monitor and disable the Intel GPU in the BIOS for the troubleshooting. > test

    Run the Windows System File Checker Sfc /scannnow and post the concluding message.

     

    Edit: Sorry, overlooked that you already did that.

    Do you play other games itm and do this game run without problems?

    @holger1405

    Done both of those things.

    Yes, I've played other games including other EA titles such as dragon age inquisition, battlefield, and sim city.  I've never encountered this before.
