While Liara was my first thought, and it's highly likely, I wouldn't say beyond a doubt. Even not being a prequel, it sure seems like it's going back to the Milky Way. Guessing all those choices we made are going to be erased for a canon ending.
Well, it is pretty obvious, don't you think? They need a link between the games, and Liara always was that link, starting in the Trilogy. 🙂
Also Michael Gamble called the first shot of the trailer with both, the Milky Way and the Andromeda galaxies visible, "intentional!". So it might be that we will be in both galaxies.
I kind of took it as Andromeda being in the background and Milky Way at the forefront as they're moving back from Andromeda to the Milky Way. I hope I'm wrong because I want the Andromeda storyline to continue.
It could be a sequel to the trilogy while also explaining a few mysteries about Andromeda in the form of a prequel (so a midquel, I guess). I always thought the alien races in Andromeda were too human. You could explain that the milky way species look alike because of Reapers guiding evolution, but it made no sense for there to be bipedal gunslingers in Andromeda, so my theory was always that the precursor race of the angara and kett (the jardaan) originated from the milky way.
I know what you mean even though Shepard is long gone. He may have had offspring, they could take up the mantle, who knows.
