Since your laptop has both an APU and a dedicated graphics card, you'll have to confirm the game is actually using the latter. Mass Effect games have a history of favouring integrated over dedicated graphics. Playing on integrated graphics would explain the visual artefacts, and there have been reports that playing on integrated graphics can also interfere with game triggers not firing, including the opening of doors.
Since your dedicated GPU is from Nvidia, you'll have to open the Nvidia control panel. Unless something has changed, the option to force the dedicated GPU should be under a tab called 'manage 3D settings'. Make sure you select the game's executable rather than the game's launcher.
There should also be a Windows setting for this under settings -> System -> Graphics settings.
My settings are all up to highest standards. The bug on CItadel DLC has nothing to do with visual artifacts which I agree can take place due to not optimized settings. Hope EA fixes it.
