Mass effect wont launch wont launch from origin but 2 and 3 will?

so i bought the special edition mass effect trilogy at future shop. i installed all 3 in order on my pc. i had all 3 working fine yesterday but now the 1st one doesnt want to launch im re installing it as we speak. A launching mass effect window pops up. then dissapears and nothing happens. it doesnt makes any sence that 2 and 3 work fine when they are bigger games. the window pops up for 2 andf 3 and then they start running right after the window dissapears. i want to play the first one before getting into the 2nd and 3rd. so wtf. i do have windows 8 but seeing as how me2 and me3 are working correctly that cant be the issue either..

When you say that you have the ME1 executable, do you mean Mass Effect.exe or MassEffectLauncher.exe?  Which directory did you find it in?

Ah; it was MassEffect.exe, not MassEffectLauncher.exe, like yours.

    I found it in \Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect\BioGame

Ok.  You've got the wrong file.  You need to put MassEffectLauncher.exe into \Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect\

Incidentally, I'm tired.  Mass Effect.exe is important, but not a part of this solution and can be left alone.

Aha, thanks for the tip. I'm currently reinstalling...😕mileymad:

Going to give it another go with the launcer.exe in \Mass Effect.

    Thanks!

It worked. You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

Moving right along to the next step. As mentiontioned in the other thread, the product code doesn't work. Opening a support ticket.

Contacted Support which was fairly easy. http://help.ea.com/contact-us

In short, they will give me another key, however their key generator is under maintenece, so they gave me a case number and asked me to try back in a couple hours.

The following is a transcription of the conversation for the reader's digest:

    Support Rep:

Thanks for contacting EA Customer Experience, my name is Support Rep, How may I assist you today?

    Me:

Hello, I downloaded the mass effect trilogy from Origin, and I can't launch Mass Effect1, however, I can launch

    Mass Effect 2,3

    Support Rep:

This issue could be related to your entitlements for the game.

    [confirmation of account dialouge, here]

    Support Rep:

Thank you for waiting. This issue is somehow related to your code for the game. What we can do is provide you a

new code. But, I would like to advise you to please contact us back again in about 2 hours as our tool that

    generates codes is under maintenance.

    Me:

ah, I see. What steps should I take to contact you again and request the code?

    Support Rep:

Please contact us back again through chat after 2 hours. I am going to leave the case number 000000000 open. I

am going to leave a note on that case that you should be provided a new code for the game.

    Me:

Thanks Support Rep. Much appreciated, that'll do it for me.

    Support Rep:

    You are welcome.

    Support Rep:

Is there anything else that I can assist you with today?

    Me:

    Nope, that's it. Thank you.

Well, that's tedious.  But glad to see it's nearly resolved.

  • Easy fix, no need for all of these downloads.

    Go in to your origingames/MassEffect

    open your binaries folder

Right click on the MassEffect.exe and go to properties

    go to the compatibility tab

make sure to check "Run in compatibility mode" for Windows XP Service pack 3

    click apply and close tab

Open your game, it will work fine now
