I'm curious - to anyone who has had the issue of controllers not being recognised: have you tried unplugging your mouse and keyboard so that the controller is the only input?
I tried doing this in the hope that it would force the games to default to the controller but instead it just causes them to crash at the splash screen.
I found a fix that was posted in a different thread. In Device manager under Human interface devices i found the culprit was HID-compliant game controller. As soon as I disabled that and rebooted my computer then reloaded ME1 my xbox controller works now past the initial screen. Hope this helps some people

@turnerbenA word of caution that doing this resulted in all kinds of blue screen of death for me so while it might work for some I would...make a system backup first.
Edit: After restarting I would experience blue screen shortly after the pairing of the bluetooth controller. I probably rebooted 5-6 times trying to turn the HID-Compliant Game Controller back on and it blue screens every time. I just unpaired the controller in bt setting and re-paired it and the HID-Compliant Game Controller is enabled so fingers crossed this fixed the system stability issue. I did notice they pushed out an update but it did not fix the controller issue for me in ME2.

Yeah sadly the patch notes didn't mention any controller issues.

I had this exact same issue, it was a nightmare. I have used Origin and EA Desktop with an Xbox Elite Series 2.

My dude thank you. I was having the issue, on the launcher controller worked and once in game nothing. I was having a problem with nier automata also not picking up controller which I will have to redownload to check now, but I disabled all consumer control devices (6 of them) and it worked. Thank you my dude.
