@felker_s I played on PC (off a Samsung Evo 860 SSD), and both original and Legendary are significantly slower. If it really can be that fast, it may have been a bug.
I timestamped this part on a random playthrough. Look how slow it is: https://youtu.be/hjnmnnZ2MQY?t=793
I'll check it out for myself when I have the time. I did miss a patch version.
I was wrong about the door speed. That was the original. I thought that carried over.
@Fred_vdp
Yeah, that's what I was thinking (slow doors / elevator ride being a possible bug), since both of you were talking about 15 sec.
I've had this 5-6 sec elevator time for both platforms since launch. Well, cannot confirm "since launch" on PC, I think the first patch was out by the time I bought it on Origin, but I'm sure I got it before the June 7 patch.
Edit: I checked out the video, holy crap that's horrible. :D Poor dude has to wait more for the Normandy elevator than I do when using the Normandy docks - C-Sec one, lol.
Could you guys check this topic out? We may have stumbled on an issue.

I'd go nuts with that. I'm pretty sure that even the OG version was faster than that, this has to be unintentional...
Have you tried playing around with the FPS cap settings?

I just tried it. I also changed from and to windowed mode and tried different resolutions. It doesn't change anything, whether I play at 60fps or over 200.
I did get my SSDs mixed up and previously said I had a Samsung Evo 970. I only have an 860, which is a SATA drive, but in games that shouldn't cause that much of a difference in load times. All my other games have pretty quick loading.
I just timed how long it takes me to fast travel from Skyhold to the Hinterlands (outskirts camp) in Dragon Age Inquisition, which is only a second slower than loading just the hangar in Mass Effect 1 LE, despite having to unload a big area, load an even bigger area, and it's a more technically advanced game.

I was about to reply that anyone who complains about how slow the elevator is in ME1 has some kind of anxiety restlessness issues, but that's definitely not how slow mine is. Just 3-4 seconds, the walls are moving faster as well. So it's not just time but the velocity.
