ME1 LE Crashing On Ilos

Hi everyone,

I've been having crashing issues with MELE since shortly after I bought it. First playthrough was going fine until I (very foolishly, can admit) downloaded somebody else's save file to try and fix the spectre gear bug that's since been patched. My game would freeze at the start menu and I gave up trying to fix it and uninstalled the game. My second playthrough has been going better, I researched different possible causes for the game's crashing and have been successfully troubleshooting by myself since, until right now at this very late stage in the game.

Anyways, I'm on Ilos and my game keeps crash-freezing (laptop as well, so I can't ctrl+alt+del out of it and troubleshoot from there, have to do a hard restart) at a specific point early in the level. I take an elevator down to an underground part of the level and and when I next engage in combat, I get a couple of shots in before it freezes. This has happened four times in a row without fail and I don't know what to do. I've tried

-Clearing Steam/Origin caches

-Disabling all relevant overlays and popups

-Disabling Controlled Folder Access and creating security exemptions

-Verifying game files

-Disabling VSync and setting a 60fps limit

-Disabling squad auto powers

I'm practically begging for help at this point. I love this game, I just want to complete it and continue on with the trilogy. I'm running it on steam and my pc specs are as follows

W10

AMD Ryzen 7 4800H

RTX 2060

16GB Ram

  • @Trumble1992Never mind I somehow missed your note that you verified the local game files. My bad. Apologies!

Here’s a few other things you can try:

    * Disable any startup software not necessary for the operation of your computer and the game (a clean boot). This may include disabling Antivirus. This might help determine whether it is software causing the conflict.

    * run a hardware check on your laptop. Availability and thoroughness of this check varies by vendor, but it may reveal a hidden problem.

Are you running on an SSD or traditional HDD?
