ME1 Legendary - Save numbering bug?

I save quite often (but I keep around 70 saves at max. My recent saves have gotten to number 999, but then making more saves gives them numbers 1 and 2. Can't save past number 2, instead creating a n...

    @Arcling 

    Renaming the saves should work.

    You can back them up by just copying them to a different location.

Yeah, that's the original behavior.

And it's only the first game that got the extra slots (because an external dev did the PC port way back). The other games all have only 30-50 slots or something (maybe it was 99), so you're going to be doing a lot more backing up when you get to them (unless it changed in Legendary, which I strongly doubt).
