I think this is something with the legendary edition.
I have same me 1 and and me 2 on my harddrive for ages, since i used cd/dvd to install them and then used no cd crack so i did not need to pop in the disc all the time, so i played them many times, me3 i hated ending so only finished 2 or 3 times.
Watched a youtuber player me 2 legendary and companion AI is really stupid, they get stuck behind pillars, behind walls, they are ordered to cover and then just keep walking into the wall instead of going to side, forward and to cover they told them to go.
I can only assume it is the same AI in ME3 legendary
I never noticed them being this dumb in basic version(no clue what they even did in legendary ed, fixed the hud UI scale in me3? lol)
