ME3 Multiplayer on Xbox One not connecting to servers

When attempting to connect to multiplayer, I simply get the "Mass Effect 3 Servers are Unavailble. Please Try Again Later". I have now had this same message for about three days or so. I originally used a hard copy of this game, downloaded the update, and was able to play the game, including Multiplayer, without any hindrance. However, since the latest XB1 update, I have not been able to connect to the EA Server at, even after repeated attempts and possible fixes. This is incredibly frustrating as I thoroughly enjoyed the multiplayer and was looking forward to jumping right back in. Some have suggested redownloading the Online Pass, but neither the XB1 Store or In-game Downloadable Content menu will let me do so. I am seriously disappointed and at a complete loss as to what else I can do. Any other suggestions would be appreciated or at least someone from EA can shed some light on this predicament.
  • For anyone STILL pissed off about this...I looked ALL OVER the internet and couldn't figure this out until I tried something I thought of myself.  So here's the problem I faced

-me and my bro could connect on his xbox one under either gamertag (same internet source. Both hard wired)

    - neither could connect on mine.

What we tried that didn't work

    - reinstall game

-checked NAT, DL UL speeds etc.

    -port forwarding

    -downloading all DLC

    -install game pass, uninstall, repeat

    - unplugging router and waiting several minutes

    -restarting router

    - router configurations, firewall etc etc

So this lead me to believe that somehow my console configuration was messed up or somehow my console may even be blocked. I thought to myself...I need to reset my xbox one to its factory default settings, but without deleting everything. So here's the steps.

    - press the xbox home button on your xbox one controller

    - go to settings

    - select all settings

    - select system

    - select console info & updates

    - select reset console

*key note, my brother did this for me while I went to the gym. (Believe it or not after hours of wasted time on the dang problem I had some good motivation for lifts. Hit some new PRs even Haha) so he texted me and asked if I wanted to reset and delete everything or reset but keep games and apps. I told him reset but keep games and apps (I think it asks you which you want to do, so I thought I'd add this since he did these steps when I wasn't there yet.)

So he did that. I came home, and here's the steps I did.

    - set up my XBL account, and go through the normal setup. My ethernet cord was hardwired from my router the entire duration during reset and setup.

    - once all was setup, I popped in the ME3 disk. Here's what I made sure NOT to do.

    - ME3 needs an update, DO NOT install or download this update. Select cancel, and watch and wait fot the game install.

    - once installed, download all the multiplayer DLC, install it.

    - DO NOT download or install the online game pass. Me and my brother noticed we could access EA servers on his despite no gamepass being installed.

    - enjoy the game.

This worked for me, and I hope it works for you. I've had no issues after. The funny thing is EVERY SINGLE OTHER game worked but not mass effect 3. Regardless, it works now. I played for a few hours with 2 people in my party, including my brother who's also connected on the same internet connection (the same one that worked when mine wasn't working.)

    2019 solution. Happy new years!

I am having the exact same issue and i have talked to an EA suppirt technician and the have said that i have never played mass effect on the xbox one. And i had just got done playing a few hours before with my friends. EA also was suppised to contact me back but never did because i was having to wait to redownload everything. This is a very serious problem that they really do not seem to care about. I have had some success with deleting my account off the xbox one then redownloading the account but as soon as i play anything else it stops working again and this does not always work. I am currently unable to play mass effect even after redownloading the game and the account. And i should not have to do so everytine i want to play my game

I played non-stop the first 2 days without any problems. On the 3rd day I got the message and it's only let me play a couple times since. I uninstalled the EA Access version and installed the disc. That worked until I shut my Xbox off. I then tried removing the online pass, then cleaning local Xbox One and 360 saves, removing the DLC, fixing NAT, rebooting router 100 times. I even tried going back to the 360 and overwriting my cloud saves. I contacted Xbox Live and all they did was want me to change my password. All these methods would sometimes work but fail again next time the console or router reboots. It's frustrating.

Talked to Xbox support for an hour and they determined it was solely a Game Developer issue. Talked to EA and they were unable to assist...lol they can't even fix their old games. ME3 was tanked a couple of years ago when they told us they would no longer be supporting/patching-fixing the Multiplayer. DO NOT purchase ME3 for any reason other than the Campaign.
  • It appears to be working now and I could finally download the online pass. Hoping more people notice as the game is dead.

Solved this problem on my end. I found that once I installed all the DLC (free, possibly because I got them on the 360 first) I had no further issues. Head to the the game, press the menu button and then select 'Manage Game' go to 'Ready to Install' and hit 'Install all'. This method solved the problem for me instantly.

  • Hi. I know this post is old but I still came to it the other day whilst trying to play ME3 on XBOX1 with gamepass with my brother. We noticed this same problem, couldn’t start a party in-game or invite one another. Found a quick solution so I thought I’d share it incase it hadn’t been brought to light already.

    1. Have one person start up a lobby and set specific preferences, ie: location, enemy, difficulty

    2. Have the second person quick search that lobby’s preferences; this should bring you to their lobby.
