Modded original games VS Legendary Edition (refund or not)

Hey guys

I already own all three original games and all the DLCs. I just bought Legendary Edition and I played it for a while. And although graphics seemed pretty awesome, I am discouraged from keep playing. I'm hearing a lot of negative things about LE. And to be honest pretty graphics is just not enough for me. I get the constant feeling of paranoia, like: When will I encounter the next immersion breaking or game breaking bug, etc.

I am considering a refund of Legendary Edition because of all the bugs and lack of mods, which have been refined by the community throughout the years.

So my questions are mainly for those who have a lot of experience with the original games and their mods.

1). What is your own personal experience so far (Original modded VS LE games)?

2). Have you experienced plenty of things so far in LE that take away from the original modded experience?

3). Would you say it's best to refund the game now, play the original ones with all the appropriate mods and maybe return back to LE when it gets more patches and even a reduced price?

4). Also, how are the facial animations and lipsync animations of talking characters later in the game of LE compared to the original modded games? Because now it seems random. Anderson's lipsync animations seem like half-finished sometimes and other times more refined.

Thank you for reading

  • I have been playing the original Mass Effect Trilogy and all the DLC's and Andromeda with all it's flaws since it came out i have never played Mass Effect with Mods so i wouldn't  know what it would be like, now with this new Mass Effect LE, i am not going to buy it ,Pretty graphics and all the fancy stuff that goes with it does not impress me, now that said.

if they had re-made the game from scratch and fixed all the mistakes. I might have bought it, as for asking for a refund, that's a question you will have to answer for yourself.

  • Versus unmodded, the only thing that might be missing are some graphics options.  I'm not entirely sure about that.

Versus my heavily modded ME 1 / 2 /3 games, the only thing I missed was being able to remove shared cooldowns and stop shields from blocking biotic powers, both of which were major retcons in ME2 and ME3 that I won't accept.  Within 24 hours, there was already a Coalesced editor available that let me fix those things.  The other major bits of modding were for graphics and the stupid ME3 ending.  The graphics no longer need mods (in my opinion), and I won't be getting to the ME3 ending any time soon.  At the rate mods are appearing, that probably will be fixed by the time I get there.

So in short, no, I don't feel like I'm missing anything important from my old modded games.

Regarding bugs, I haven't encountered any game breaking ones yet, but I don't discount the claims of people who say that they have.  All I can say is that for me, it's been stable.  Frame rates have occasionally been disappointing.  Not bad, but also not always smooth -- not sure what's going on with that.

Only you can make a proper decision as to whether you should keep it or refund it.  I'm happy with it, and definitely getting my money's worth.

  • I find MELE a masterpiece and now the only way to play this game. (excepting multiplayer)

Though I'm on console and have never used mods (and the game is pretty much bug-free on Xbox).

Hopefully the PC version will settle down as PC often has more issues due to configuration variety.  🤔
