Did skipping talking to Lexi help avoid the bug?
No need skip anything. When you end up with two of these missions, just continue doing them. Eventually one will complete early. Then you can finish and actually see the movie watching happen with the other one.

Now I can continue my play-through instead of waiting however long for another patch....assuming they even fix progression bugs like this in the next one.
