No DLC for Andromeda?
Just read this on Kotaku
Does that mean there will be no DLC either?

BioWare Montreal was a support studio before they started working on Mass Efffect Andromeda, so if there's a downsize it wouldn't necessarily mean no DLC is coming. They made the Omega DLC for Mass Effect 3 as well as all multiplayer content for that game back when they were a much smaller studio, so they can definitely still develop DLC. It's also possible other BioWare studios will pitch in. BioWare Austin, for example, developed The Descent for Dragon Age Inquisition.
I would also take the article with a grain of salt because Kotaku isn't exactly the most reliable gaming news source. Actress Jules de Jongh (Cora) also recently mentioned that she's recording new lines for Mass Effect, so DLC is definitely coming.
That's not surprising. I wasn't expecting a DLC so soon, just some patching and perhaps a more bold tweaking on not too complex mechanics, overall improvements which don't depend on a DLC per se.
If all I can wait from patching is bug fixes then ... I think that's the end of MEA for me.
She could also be recording new lines due the huge amount of feedback regarding romancing. I think either way is ok.
Nah, they have way too much to fix in the main game, IF they will fix it that is... lol
Honestly if i was Bioware, i wouldn't even know how to handle all this:
1. Fix current game? Obviously need budget for that!... considering lot of people were disappointed, left the game, lost interest. How many will return to replay or experience the changes?
2. Will investing in a DLC will worth it? Will it bring back people? Will it increase ratings? How much to charge for the DLC? ... considering #1 experiences
There's so many factors at task, and if you think about it... all of it involves 🕒 , $$$$$ and reputation 🤓
Surely, they shan't be too bold as to try selling paid DLCs so soon.
3 weeks later, a paid DLC is announced for pre-ordering. :eahigh_file:
I'm kinda sad honestly. There is definitely not a good vibe surrounding the game.
I appreciate their work to try to make the game better, even if it is really hard now to bring back lost fans.
From the look of things we will not get a new Mass Effect anytime soon, all their major teams are busy with the new IP and probably the next Dragon Age. The news about the team resize is real and it was already in the air.
I honestly hope in at least the Quarian dlc, but after that.... i have a Dragon Age 2 feeling going on... when they cancelled the last dlc due to poor sales and reception.
Here's my take on it:
I have to agree with some random guy who commented on twitter-- feels more "planned" than a "change of direction".
I mean, we saw it with ME3 too; after launch, the team went into long-term support mode and they kept actively polishing the game for a while. Add to that the DLC content, including the free MP expansions.
I don't expect it to be different with MEA.
Also, here's an official answer about continued support of the game:

And it's already confirmed that v1.06 wasn't the last patch:

Yeah but that official answer points to their blog post from more than a month ago, and in their blog post never once single player dlc's or story continuation were mentioned, while in ME3 it was boldly clear from day one there were dlc's on the making.
That's how I'm understanding it (due to specific mention of follow-through on what was promised). Bug fixes and MP support, no story DLC. I really had high hopes for this game.
I'd consider it perfect if planet scanning had hidden missions to discover like the original trilogy and if there was more voice work added for the crew to make them more interesting/emotionally compelling and maybe a few "changes" to Ryder's lines here and there. Could have it all fixed by end of summer. ☹️
To quote Nakmor Kesh: "Situation's gone to sh*t, pretty much sums it up".
I'm not concerned about the DLCs. Not unless they put it out officially, in our face, that "we're done."
"--you're keeping the lights on. You have my vote."
They seem committed to put it right.
Safe to say I am very disappointed that it appears as if there wont be any dlc for Andromeda.
Too much left undone for the Ryders (Mum, Quarrian Ark etc). So now we have to look forward to it forever being incomplete? :/
