[Old Report] Unable To Launch Game Through Steam/EA App

I have the MELE on Steam. Several months ago, the EA app started to become involved with launching - which slowed the launch down but I could still play. Now, I can't even launch the game. I run the game from Steam as usual, an EA app window pops up, closes, then the full EA app window comes up and just sits there. Then I try to launch MELE from inside the EA App window, and it throws it back to Steam and still won't launch. I literally can't play the game!  I've cleared the "EA App" cache already but that didnt help things.

Others are posting in the Steam forums about this same issue.

Does anyone know how to get this to work?

UPDATE: now I get a Microsoft login request in the EA App window??? What the???? Here is a picture: https://imgur.com/a/sLLfUYI

Apparently, all EA App games on the Steam store are having issues

  • I tried the Revo uninstaller attempt, twice, and it still fails.

    When trying to open MELE through Steam, it opens a dialog from EA saying "Preparing Game.." for several seconds. Then the dialog box goes away and nothing happens.

    Starting MELE directly through EA app produces a similar result.

    I appreciate  your effort with troubleshooting, but this does not appear like an isolated client side incident. Do you have any other ideas?

    Thank you

    I did something like this already after the reasonable troubleshooting didn't work. Turns out most of the keys were already present and that still still didn't allow the game to launch. This just further cemented that something about the EA App or my PC was just being very disagreeable.

    And yet once I got the older version of Origin installed and "configured", I was able to get MELE to launch straight away as long as I used Origin to do it. That part is the real headscratcher; why would Origin work and EA App doesn't? I have no answer for that. So for me it means I have to use Origin if I want to play MELE (while that workaround lasts).

  • found this in a Battlefield 2042 form and it fixed my issue credit to DadBodActual

    1. Type "RegEdit" on your search bar (without the quotation marks, obviously);
    2. Open "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE";
    3. Open "SOFTWARE";
    4. Locate and open the "EA Games" folder;
    5. Open the Battlefield V folder;
    6. At this point you should have some register entries on the right side, one of them is the "Install Dir", double click on it;
    7. Now you just need to paste the path where your Battlefield V is installed, it seems like the EA App is not able to map that directory for itself;
    8. Close the Register Editor and it should do the trick.

    I am having the same problems as everyone else and these past posts are from 3 years ago. I bought the game from the steam app and it keeps redirectimg me to the EA app. I go to theEA app and it indicates me to uninstall it from Steam. No! I paid for this game on Steam! What's up with EA games?

    It was. I've honestly tried a bunch of things. Even tried launching the game through Frostymods but to no avail. I uninstalled the EA app, the installed it again. Unlinked and linked it back up again to see what's the problem and I honestly don't know. I also got in touch with someone from EA through email and did most of the things they told me to do and still nothing.
